Bufadienolides and a new lignan from the bulbs of Urginea maritima

Thirty three compounds were obtained from the bulbs of Urginea maritima (Liliaceae). The compounds were identified by means of fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FAB-MS), nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), (13C-NMR), nuclear overhauser effects (NOE) and two dimensional (2D) NMR. Ten of them were new natural compounds. Nine were bufadienolides and only one was lignan in these compounds.     

Selective separation of Am(III) from lanthanides(III) by solvent extraction with hydrophobic field of "superweak" anion

The weakly coordinating hydrophobic anion TFPB-, whose surface is covered with a hydrophobic field, gives rise to a selective separation of Am(III) from lanthanides(III) in their solvent extraction even with a hard-donor extractant that shows no selectivity for Am(III) in traditional solvent extraction.     

A simple and stereoselective synthesis of 7-azabicyclo[2.2.1]-heptane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylates

The photoinitiated reaction of 1,1′-bis(methoxycarbonyl)divinylamine with various maleates and fumarates afforded novel 7-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylates. The spectral investigation of the products showed that the reaction proceeded stereoselectively, retaining the original configuration of the reagents.     

Steroidal glycosides from the aerial part of Asclepias incarnata L. II

Thirty new steroidal glycosides were obtained from the aerial part of Asclepias incarnata L. (Asclepiadaceae). These glycosides were confirmed to have lineolon, isolineolon, 12-O-acetyllineolon, 12-O-(Z)-cinnamoyllineolon, metaplexigenin, 15 beta-hydroxylineolon, 15 beta-hydroxyisolineolon, 16 alpha-hydroxyisolineolon, 12-O-tigloyl-16 alpha-hydroxyisolineolon as the aglycone and 2,6-dideoxyhexopyranose as the sugar sequence by spectroscopic methods and chemical evidence.     

Study of enzyme inhibitory activities by dipyridamole

Inhibitory activities of Dipyridamole (DPM, 2,6-bis(diethanolamino)-4,8-dipiperidinopyrimido(5,4-d)py rim idine) against xanthine oxidase (XO), carbonic anhydorase (CA) and monoamine oxidase (MAO) were studied, in vitro. DPM did not inhibit XO and CA, but it strongly inhibited MAO. The type of inhibition by DPM against MAO with respect to benzylamine as a substrate was uncompetitive.     

Phenolic constituents of licorice. III. Structures of glicoricone and licofuranone, and inhibitory effects of licorice constituents on monoamine oxidase

Two new phenolic compounds, glicoricone (3) and licofuranone (4), were isolated from a species of licorice brought from the northwestern region of China, and their structures were assigned. Among the twelve licorice constituents examined for the inhibition of monoamine oxidase (MAO), six compounds, 3, 4, genistein (6), licopyranocoumarin (7), licocoumarone (14) and glycyrrhisoflavone (15), inhibited the enzyme with the IC50 (concentration required for 50% inhibition of the enzyme activity) values of 6.0 x 10(-5)-1.4 x 10(-4) M. Glycyrrhizin (1) also inhibited MAO with the IC50 value of 1.6 x 10(-4) M.     

Acylated-oxypregnane glycosides from the roots of Araujia sericifera

Twenty-three new acylated-oxypregnane glycosides were obtained from the roots of Araujia sericifera. (Asclepiadaceae). These glycosides were confirmed to be tetraglycosides possessing twelve known compounds, 12-O-benzoyllineolon, 12-O-benzoyldeacylmetaplexigenin, ikemagenin, kidjolanin, cynanchogenin, caudatin, rostratamine, penupogenin, 12-O-benzoylisolineolon, 12-O-tigloyldecylmetaplexigenin (incisagenin), 12-O-benzoyl-20-O-acetylsarcostin, 20-O-benzoyl-12-O-(E)-cinnamoyl-3 beta,5 alpha,8 beta,12 beta,14 beta,17 beta,20-heptahydroxy-(20S)-pregn-6-ene and ten new acylated-oxypregnanes, 12-O-benzoyl-20S-hydroxyisolineolon, 12-O-tigloyllineolon, 12-O-salicyloyllineolon, 12-O-salicyloyldeacylmetplexigenin, 12-O-benzoyl-3 beta,5 alpha,8 beta,12 beta,14 beta,17 beta-hexahydroxypregn-6-en-20-one, 12-O-benzoyl-19-benzoyloxydeacylmetapleligenin, 12-O-benzoyl-19-benzoyloxy-20-O-acetylsarcostin, 12-O-benzoyl-19-salicyloyloxy-20-O-acetylsarcostin, 12-O-benzoyl-5 alpha,6 alpha-epoxydeacylmetaplexigenin, and 12-O-benzoyl-5 alpha,6 alpha-epoxylineolon as their aglycones, using both spectroscopic and chemical methods.     

A novel synthesis of 1H-pyrrole-2,3,4,5-tetracarboxylates

A novel and convenient synthesis of 1H -pyrrole-2,3,4,5-tetracarboxylates is described. Photocyclization of 1,1′-bis(methoxycarbonyl)divinylamine with acetylenedicarboxylates gave 7-azabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-ene-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylates 2a-i , which on melting split ethylene off to yield 1H-pyrrole-2,3,4,5-tetracarboxylates 3a-i quantitatively.     

Cardenolide and oxypregnane glycosides from the root of Asclepias incarnata L

Twenty-nine new oxypregnane glycosides were obtained along with two known cardenolides, frugoside and gofruside, and three known 12-O-acylated pregnane glycosides from the roots of Asclepias incarnata L. (Asclepiadaceae). By detailed studies of the 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra, the structures were determined to be tri- to penta glycosides of isolineolon, 12-O-acetyllineolon, ikemagenin, 12-O-benzoylisolineolon, and two new 12-O-acylated pregnanes.     

A theoretical analysis of modulation noise and dc erased noise in magnetic recording

The modulation noise and the special case, dc erased noise in magnetic recording are discussed theoretically, taking account of two main causes at the same stage, i.e. the magnetic properties such as the inhomogeneous distribution of the particles on the tape, and the mechanical properties such as the head-to-tape space variations arising from the tape surface roughness. We derive the signal as well as the noise power spectrum of the induced voltage at the read head. This is done by generalizing the theory of the signal behaviour. The theoretical result turned out to agree quite well with the experimental one.
