SDS/Ac2O/H2O: Surfactant‐Mediated Cleavage of Imines with Acetic Anhydride to Carbonyls and Acetanilides in Water

Surfactant (SDS)‐mediated cleavage of imines was achieved with acetic anhydride to the corresponding carbonyls (aldehydes and ketones) and acetanilides in water at 25–30°C with very good to excellent yields, thus contributing significantly to the green chemistry concept.

There is a corresponding definition of (2n+1)-th symmetric Laplace derivative. It is shown that this derivative is a generalization of the symmetric d.l.V.P. derivative. Some properties of this derivative are studied.     

Method of all-optical frequency-encoded binary adder system using nonlinear waveguide and reflecting semiconductor optical amplifiers

Arithmetic and algebraic operations are the most important part of optical computation and data processing. To implement the optical logic operations, different data encoding/decoding techniques have been reported. Frequency variant encoding/decoding technique is now performing a very faithful role in this regard. Frequency is the fundamental character of any signal and it remains unaltered in reflection, refraction, absorption, etc. during propagation and transmission of the signal. This is the most potential advantage of the frequency encoding technique over any other conventional encoding techniques. Here, in our proposed scheme of addition of binary bits made of two encoded frequencies in C-band (1535-1560 nm), the conjugate beam is generated in LiNbO₃ waveguide using cascaded sum and difference frequency generation by the nonlinear interaction with a third frequency, exploiting the nonlinear response character of periodically poled LiNbO₃ waveguide. The cross-gain modulation property of reflecting semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) has also been exploited here for frequency conversion purposes.     

Soft matter lithium salt electrolytes: ion conduction and application to rechargeable batteries

Abstract  Soft matter provides diverse opportunities for the development of electrolytes for all solid state lithium batteries. Here we review soft matter solid electrolytes for lithium batteriesthat are primarily obtained starting from liquid electrolytic systems. This concept of solid electrolyte synthesis from liquid is significantly different from prevalent approaches. The novelty of our approach is discussed in the light of various fundamental issues and in relation to its application to rechargeable lithium batteries. Graphical abstract   M. Patel and S. K. Clove (Syzygium aromaticum Linn) extract rich in eugenol and eugenol derivatives shows bone-preserving efficacy

This study examined the efficacy of hydroalcoholic extract of dried clove buds, which is rich in phenolic compounds namely eugenol and eugenol derivatives (precursors of flavones, isoflavones and flavonoids), on different primary and secondary osteoporotic marker changes in an ovariectomised (OVX) rat model of osteoporosis. Female Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham-operated control (A), OVX (B) and OVX plus 50% hydroalcoholic extract of dried clove buds for 4 weeks (C).
