We report molecular dynamics computer simulations of the surface tension and interfacial thickness of ionic liquid-vapor interfaces modeled with a soft core primitive model potential. We find that the surface tension shows an anomalous oscillatory behavior with interfacial area. This observation is discussed in terms of finite size effects introduced by the periodic boundary conditions employed in computer simulations. Otherwise we show that the thickness of the liquid-vapor interface increases with surface area as predicted by the capillary wave theory. Data on the surface tension of size-asymmetric ionic liquids are reported and compared with experimental data of molten salts. Our data suggest that the surface tensions of size-asymmetric ionic liquids do not follow a corresponding states law.  相似文献

The behaviour of the hole number in YBCO systems as a function of the oxygen deficiency x is studied theoretically by calculating the density of electron states for several different superstructures formed by periodic arrangements of the oxygen vacancies. The characteristic features of the electronic properties for chain copper sites with different coordination are pointed out and their relevance in determining the number of carriers for oxygen planes is illustrated. It is shown that the curve of the hole number as a function of x shows plateaus and jumps similar to those found in the Tc versus x curves if the de-oxygenation process takes place by forming fragmented chains. Structures formed by filled and empty chains only give a smooth hole behaviour as a function of the composition. The results of the numerical calculations can be understood by a simple model giving the Fermi energy shift in terms of the concentrations of Cu(1) sites with different coordination.  相似文献

This paper considers an airline crew allocation and scheduling problem faced by certain divisions of the United States Air Force. Two variants of the problem under consideration were posed to us by the U.S. Air Force. This paper reports our experience with two heuristic methods developed, each applicable to either variant of the problem. Although the problem described herein is peculiar to this situation, the heuristic scheduling and dispatching rules developed have been found to be very effective and are generally applicable in other related contexts of routeing and crew and vehicle scheduling problems as well. The two algorithms developed have been applied to a coded set of real world data. The results indicate that each one of the two methods is preferable to the other for one of the two variants of the problem. This suggests an overall effective composite technique.  相似文献

The main purpose of this work was to isolate and characterize lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains to be used for biomass production using a whey-based medium supplemented with an ammonium salt and with very low levels of yeast extract (0.25 g/L). Five strains of LAB were isolated from naturally soured milk after enrichment in whey-based medium. One bacterial isolate, designated MNM2, exhibited a remarkable capability to utilize whey lactose and give a high biomass yield on lactose. This strain was identified as Lactobacillus casei by its 16S rDNA sequence. A kinetic study of cell growth, lactose consumption, and titratable acidity production of this bacterial strain was performed in a bioreactor. The biomass yield on lactose, the percentage of lactose consumption, and the maximum increase in cell mass obtained in the bioreactor were 0.165 g of biomass/g of lactose, 100%, and 2.0 g/L, respectively, which were 1.44, 1.11, and 2.35 times higher than those found in flask cultures. The results suggest that it is possible to produce LAB biomass from a whey-based medium supplemented with minimal amounts of yeast extract.  相似文献

Direct molecular dynamics simulations on interfaces at constant temperature are performed to obtain the liquid-vapor phase diagram of the two-dimensional soft primitive model, an equimolar mixture of equal size spheres carrying opposite charges. Constant temperature and pressure simulations are also carried out to check consistency with interface simulations results. In addition, an analysis of the cluster formation of mixtures of particles with charge asymmetry in the range 1:1 to 1:36 at low and high densities is performed. The number of free ions, when plotted as a function of the positive ion charge, Z(+), has an oscillatory behavior and is independent of the density. The formation of aggregates is analyzed in terms of the attraction and repulsion between ions.  相似文献
