Development in Synthesis,Electrochemistry, LB Moieties of Phenothiazine Based Units

A convenient and higher yielding synthetic route to N‐alkyl‐bis(thiophene)phenothiazine derivatives is reported and their aggregation, electrochemical properties and polymerization are characterized. The key step in the synthesis of this group of compounds has been the Stille type coupling reaction between the N‐alkyldibromophenothiazine and tin derivatives of thiophene as the best way for preparation of conjugated N‐alkylphenothiazine derivatives. For this group of compounds we also present an electrochemical polymerization effect and widely adopted approach to prepare structurally ordered thin, electroconducting films by Langmuir–Blodgett technique.     

Giant dipole resonance in55Mn* studied with the BGO detector

High-energy gamma-rays emitted in the decay of the giant dipole resonance built on excited states of⁵⁵Mn nucleus were measured with a bismuth germanate detector. Resonance parameters were extracted from the fits to the experimental spectra. Two new high-energy calibration points originating from slow-neutron capture in germanium isotopes of bismuth germanate crystal are proposed for large-volume BGO detectors.     

Chiroptical properties of steroid 1,3-diaxial diols in the presence of [Mo2(OAc)4]

Summary Bidentate complexes of dimolybdenum tetraacetate with 1,3-diaxial diols show Cotton effects around 490–540 nm (CD band I), 400–440 nm (II), 350–380 nm (III), 320 nm (IV) and 280 nm (V). The sign of the Cotton effect II can be predicted by a proposed sector rule. It seems that from the Cotton effects for cyclic 1,3-diols the absolute configurations or conformations can be obtained.A part of this material was presented at III-rd International Conference on CD Spectroscopy [1]     

Rotational bands in 181Ta

High-spin states in ¹⁸¹Ta have been studied via the ¹⁷⁶Yb(¹¹B,α2n) reaction at 52 MeV using the PEX array and at 57 MeV using the NORDBALL array, with α-particle detection. The previously known, K^π=(7/2)⁺ ground state band and K^π=(9/2)⁻ band have been extended to spins (29/2)⁺ and (31/2)⁻, respectively. Two new one-quasiparticle bands, the K^π=(5/2)⁺ band built on the known (5/2)⁺ isomer and a K^π=((1/2)⁻) band have been observed. Two other rotational bands with three-quasiparticle structure, K^π=(15/2)⁻ and ((19/2)⁺ with π(7/2)[404]ν²(1/2)[510](9/2)[624] and π(9/2)[514]ν²(1/2)[510](9/2)[624] configurations, respectively, have been newly observed. The half-life of the K^π=((19/2)⁺) bandhead which decays to the head of the (15/2)⁻ band has been measured to be 140(36) ns. However, transitions from the ((19/2)⁺) state to the (15/2)⁻ band have not been observed. Received: 26 August 1998     

Synthesis of N-heterocyclic carbene precursors bearing biphenyl units and their use in ruthenium-catalyzed ring-opening metathesis polymerization

A range of new imidazolium and imidazolinium chlorides bearing biphenyl units on their nitrogen atoms was synthesized. They differed by the electron-withdrawing or -donating nature and the steric bulk of the substituents on their aromatic rings. These various N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) precursors were combined with the [RuCl₂(p-cymene)]₂ dimer and potassium tert-butoxide to generate the corresponding ruthenium-arene complexes [RuCl₂(p-cymene)(NHC)] in situ. The catalytic activity of these species was investigated in the photoinduced ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of cyclooctene. The results obtained confirmed the necessity of blocking the ortho-positions of the phenyl rings in the vicinity of the metal center in order to attain high catalytic efficiencies. They also showed that changing the steric and electronic properties of the substituents on the remote phenyl rings of the biphenyl units had no significant influence on the outcome of the polymerization.     

A new phase in the Ag−O−S system

The investigations of reaction between Ag₂SO₄ and Ag₂S in air atmosphere have been carried. Results of DTA and X-ray phase powder diffraction of a reaction mixture have confirmed that in the Ag?O?S system exists a new phase. A formula of the phase is Ag₂SO₂.     

Synthesis and human leukocyte elastase inhibitory activity of novel 2-spiro(2′,2′-diphenylcyclopropane) cephalosporin sulfones

Precipitation polymerization of aniline in the presence of water‐soluble organic acids

The precipitation polymerization of aniline in the presence of organic acids, including toluene‐4‐sulfonic acid, phenylphosphonic acid, 4‐aminophenylphosphonic acid, and acetophosphonic acid, led in one step to conductive polyaniline. The polyaniline showed very good affinity for water and was easily modified to be water‐soluble. In comparison with the widely studied postpolymerization of doped polyaniline, this reaction allowed reasonably good conductivity to be achieved at a lower acid/polyaniline ratio. Moreover, the easy in situ incorporation of the dopant into the polymer structure caused high stability of the created salt; that is, no dedoping was observed after it was washed with water, methanol, or other solvents. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract

Elimination of one methyl group by excess of N,N-dipropylamine transformed S-(3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-α-D-glucopyranosyl)-O,O-dimethyl-dithiophosphate¹ into the N,N-dipropylammonium (R)S- (3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-α-D-glucopyranosyl)-O-methyl-dithiophosphate with chiral centre on phosphorus atom.
