Direct atomic-absorption determination of the Ni and V content in oil

A direct (without sample pretreatment) atomic-absorption method of V and Ni determination in oil with electrothermal atomization and Zeeman correction of background was developed.     

Interaction of 4-Isopropoxalyl-1,5-diphenyl-2,3-dihydro-2,3-pyrroledione with Thiosemicarbazide: Synthesis and Crystal and Molecular Structure of (3aS*)(4R*)(6aR*)-4,6a-dihydroxy-4-isopropoxycarbonyl-1-thiocarbamoyl-3,5-diphenyl-1,3a,4,5,6,6a-hexahydropyrrolo[3,4-d]pyrazol-6-one

4-Isopropoxalyl-1,5-diphenyl-2,3-dihydro-2,3-pyrroledione reacts with thiosemicarbazide to form (3aS*)(4R*)(6aR*)-4,6a-dihydroxy-4-isopropoxycarbonyl-1-thiocarbamoyl-3,5-diphenyl-1,3a,4,5,6,6a-hexahydropyrrolo[3,4-d]pyrazol-6-one. The molecular and crystal structure of the latter was studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction.     

Rotation of the universe

We study the problem of a possible rotation of the observable Universe (Metagalaxy) from the point of view of the general-relativistic theory of gravitation. We employ the concept of a hierarchical structure of reality, based on the existence of Eddington-Dirac large numbers. From the Einstein equations in their Landau-Raichaudhuri form we derive expressions for the angular momentum and angular velocity of the rotation of the Metagalaxy. These expressions give an coinciding in order of magnitude with the observed one. Using the formulas obtained, and using the hierarchy relation (large number relation), we obtain the Stanyukovich formula S N^3/2 which relates the number of nucleons in the Metagalaxy N and its angular momentum S. We show that the angular velocity may decrease in inverse proportionality to the scale factor, which may explain its small value at this time. Tetraphenylbismuth 2,4-Dimethylbenzenesulfonate: Synthesis and Structure

Tetraphenylbismuth 2,4-dimethylbenzenesulfonate was synthesized by reacting pentaphenylbismuth or bromine with diphenylbismuth 2,4-dimethylbenzenesulfonate and its structure was established using X-ray diffraction analysis. The Bi atom has a distorted trigonal bipyramidal coordination. The Bi–C bond lengths are equal to 2.199(4)–2.227(4) Å the Bi–O distance and axial CBiO angle are equal to 2.665(3) Å and 174.2(1)°, respectively.     

Synthesis and Structure of Triphenylbismuth Bis(Fluorobenzoates)

The reaction between triphenylbismuth, hydrogen peroxide, and 3,4,5-trifluorobenzoic or pentafluorobenzoic acid (molar ratio 1 : 1 : 2, respectively) in ether gave triphenylbismuth bis(3,4,5-trifluorobenzoate) (I) and triphenylbismuth bis(pentafluorobenzoate) (II) in 74 and 89% yields, respectively. The structures of compounds I and II were established by X-ray diffraction. The Bi atoms have a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination with acylate groups in the axial positions. The OBiO angles are 170.2(2)° and 171.5(2)° in I and II, respectively. The Bi–C(Ph)_eq bond lengths vary in the range of 2.187(6)–2.204(5) Å, the Bi–O(acyl) lengths are 2.256(5) Å in I, and 2.281(5) and 2.318(5) Å in II. In the crystals I and II, the Bi and carbonyl O atoms are involved in intramolecular interactions (Bi···O(=C) 2.926(5)–3.176(5) Å), which increase the equatorial CBiC angles on the side of these contacts to 136.2(3)° and 138.6(2)° in I and II, respectively.     

Phenylation of Organic Derivatives of Mercury,Silicon, Tin,and Bismuth with Pentaphenylantimony and Pentaphenylphosphorus

Pentaphenylantimony and -phosphorus react with arylmercury chlorides in toluene at room temperature to give diaryl derivatives of mercury in yields of up to 95%. The reactions of pentaphenylantimony and -phosphorus with silicon and tin halides involve arylation of the latter in yields of up to 79%. The products of the reaction of pentaphenylphosphorus with triphenylbismuth dihalides are tetraphenylphosphorus halides, triphenylbismuth, and halobenzene.     

Hydrolysis of 7,7-Substituted Derivatives of 3-tert-Butyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-thiazolo-[3,2-a][1,3,5]triazin-6(7H)-one

Alkaline hydrolysis of 3-tert-butyl-7,7-bis(hydroxymethyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-thiazolo[3,2-a][1,3,5]-triazin-6(7H)-one can occur in three directions: with cleavage of the tetrahydrotriazine ring, with cleavage of the thiazolidine ring, and also with opening of both rings. Depending on the process conditions, either the hydrolysis product corresponding to the first direction or the hydrolytic decomposition products corresponding to the second and third directions can be obtained in preparative quantities. Hydrolysis of 3,3′-di-tert-butyl-3′,4′-dihydro-2′ H-spiro[(perhydro-1,3-oxazine)-5,7′-thiazolo[3,2-a][1,3,5]triazin]-6′-one in (NH₄)₂CO₃ solution occurs in two steps: in the first step, cleavage of the tetrahydrotriazine ring occurs; and in the second step, opening of the perhydrooxazine ring occurs. __________ Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 7, pp. 1089–1097, July, 2005.     

Synthesis and Structure of Triphenylbismuth Difluoride

The reaction of triphenylbismuth dichloride with sodium fluoride in acetone leads to formation of triphenylbismuth difluoride in 73% yield. The X-ray diffraction data show that the bismuth atom in the two symmetrically independent molecules of bismuth difluoride has a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination with equatorial fluorine atoms. The Bi-F and Bi-C distances are 2.53(1)-2.59(1) and 2.10(3)-2.22(2) Å, respectively, and the FBiF angle is 175.1(5)°.
