Competition of Dehydrochlorination and Dehydrobromination in Reactions of N,N,N-Trialkyl-N-(2,3-dibromo-3-chlorobutyl)ammonium Bromides with Alcoholic Solution of KOH

Reactions of N,N,N-trialkyl-N-(2,3-dibromo-3-chlorobutyl)ammonium bromides with alcoholic solution of KOH mainly follow the dehydrochlorination pathway, yielding N,N,N-trialkyl-N-(2,3-dibromo-2-butenyl)ammonium bromides as major products.     

Alkaline Cleavage of 2,3-Dibromo-2-butene-1,4-diammonium Salts

Decomposition of N,N,N,N′,N′,N′-hexamethyl-2,3-dibromo-2-butene-1,4-diammonium diiodide in alcoholic alkali gives ammonium salts containing a 4,4-dialkoxy-2-butynyl group rather than the corresponding 1,4-elimination products.     

Bromination of Mono- and Bisammonium Salts with a 4-Penten-2-ynyl Side Group

Reaction of bromine with 1,4-bisammonium salts containing, along with a 2-chlorobutenylene common fragment, 4-penten-2-ynyl side groups, as well as of monoammonim salts containing the same side group and a 4-bromo-3-chlorobutenyl group, involve addition of two bromine molecules at each of the side groups, while the double bond of the chlorobutenyl group remains intact.     

Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Surface-Active Alkoxycarbonylmethyldimethyl(4-penten-2-ynyl)ammonium Chlorides

Quaternary ammonium salts containing a 4-penten-2-ynyl group in addition to the alkoxycarbonylmethyl group are synthesized. The surface activity and antimicrobial action of the resulting compounds are studied.     

Intramolecular 1,5-Hydride Transfer in Rearrangements of Ammonium Salts Containing Alkoxycarbonylmethyl and 4-Penten-2-ynyl Groups

The Stevens 3,2 rearrangement of dialkylammonium salts containing, along with 4-penten-2-ynyl, an alkoxycarbonylmethyl group, gives mostly hydrogenated products, with simultaneous dealkylation and aldehyde formation. On acid treatment enamine amino esters give keto esters or their further transformation product, 4-ethyl3-hydroxy-5-methyltetrahydrofuran-2-one.
