Spatiotemporal and Thermal Analysis of VCSEL for Short-range Gigabit Optical Links

High-speed Optoelectronic Modules using Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSEL) coupled to Multi Mode Fibers (MMF) are a performing and low-cost solution for 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) in short-distance optical links. A complete model of the spatiotemporal behavior of multimode VCSELs, through static and dynamic response, noise, thermal effects, and its coupling to MMF has been investigated. Relative Intensity Noise shows modal dependence and can be affected by spatial filtering due to coupling and fiber propagation. Simulations permit to evaluate critical parameters, such as modulation formats, launching conditions, and operating temperature for global bandwidth and eye diagram optimization up to 10 Gb/s. Simulation results are compared to measurements on prototype optoelectronic modules.     

Host–Guest Assembly of a Molecular Reporter with Chiral Cyanohydrins for Assignment of Absolute Stereochemistry

The absolute stereochemistry of cyanohydrins, derived from ketones and aldehydes, is obtained routinely, in a microscale and derivatization‐free manner, upon their complexation with Zn‐MAPOL, a zincated porphyrin host with a binding pocket comprised of a biphenol core. The host–guest complex leads to observable exciton‐coupled circular dichroism (ECCD), the sign of which is easily correlated to the absolute stereochemistry of the bound cyanohydrin. A working model, based on the ECCD signal of cyanohydrins with known configuration, is proposed.     

Supported N-propylsulfamic acid on magnetic nanoparticles used as recoverable and recyclable catalyst for the synthesis of 2, 3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones in water

An efficient and eco-friendly method is reported for the synthesis of 2-substituted-2,3-dihydroquinazolin -4（1 H）-ones from direct cyclocondensation of anthranilamide with aldehydes and ketones using N-propylsulfamic acid supported onto magnetic Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles（MNPs-PSA） as a recoverable and recyclable nanocatalyst in good to excellent yields in water at 70℃.The catalyst was readily separated using an external magnet and reusable without significant loss of their catalytic efficiency.     

Conversion of Thioamides into Their Corresponding Oxygen Analogues Using Silver Carbonate Supported on Celite

Silver carbonate supported on celite (Ag 2 CO 3 /Celite) is used as a mild heterogeneous reagent for conversion of a variety of thioamides into their corresponding amides in acetonitrile at room temperature.     

Catalyst-free regioselective ring opening of epoxides with aromatic amines in water and solvent-free conditions

Without using any catalysts, a variety of epoxides undergo ring-opening by aromatic amines to afford the corresponding 1,2-amino alcohols in high to excellent yields with good regioselectivity in the presence of water as solvent and under solvent-free conditions.     

Nonlocal beam theory for nonlinear vibrations of embedded multiwalled carbon nanotubes in thermal environment

A nonlocal elastic beam model is developed to investigate the small scale effects on the large-amplitude vibration analysis of embedded multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) at an elevated temperature. The nested slender nanotubes are coupled with each other through the van der Waals (vdW) interlayer interaction. The curvature-dependent vdW force employed incorporates not only pairwise nearest-neighbor but also nonneighbor interactions between nested nanotubes. The incremental harmonic balance method is adopted to analytically solve the nonlinear equations that are governed by the vibrations of nested nanotubes. The influences of small scale parameter, geometrical parameters, temperature rise, and the elastic medium are fully examined.     

A Facile Room Temperature Synthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanostructure and Its Influence on the Flame Retardancy of Poly Vinyl Alcohol

In this work, poly vinyl alcohol–ZnO nanocomposites were synthesized via two different in situ and ex-situ methods. In ex-situ, at first zinc oxide nanostructures were synthesized by one-step precipitation reaction between zinc acetate and sodium hydroxide. The effect of different surfactants such as poly vinyl pyrrolidone, poly vinyl alcohol and poly ethylene glycol on the morphology of ZnO nanostructures was investigated. Nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy. The influence of ZnO nanostructures on the flame retardancy of the poly vinyl alcohol matrix was studied using underwriter laboratories UL-94 analysis.

Regioselective Synthesis of Novel Functionalized Phosphanylidene Anthra[2,1-b]furan Derivatives Under Solvent-Free Conditions

A convenient and efficient, regioselective, solvent-free procedure has been developed to react 2,6-dihydroxyanthraquinone, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, and triphenylphosphine in one-pot, to afford novel phosphanylidene anthracenyl derivatives 3a-c, which at 90°C due to intramolecular nucleophilic attack formed novel phosphanylidene anthra[2,1-b]furans 4a–c in good yield.
