A convenient synthetic route to new bis(arenediazo) complexes of molybdenum and tungsten

Complexes of the type [(C₅H₅)Mo(N₂Ar)(N₂Ar′)(PPh₃)] [PF₆] have been prepared and shown to be useful starting materials for the synthesis of a variety of neutral, cationic or anionic compounds containing [cis-Mo(N₂Ar)(N₂Ar′)]²⁺ units.     

Error-compensating algorithms in phase-shifting interferometry: a comparison by error analysis

In this paper, two families of phase-shifting algorithms with π/2 phase steps are studied. In family I, three new algorithms are derived by using the averaging technique based on the Surrel six-sample algorithm with phase shifts of π/2. Family II includes four well-known algorithms derived by the averaging technique based on the conventional four-sample algorithm with π/2 phase steps. A polynomial model of phase-shift errors used to describe general expressions for calculation of the correct object phase via the Fourier spectra analysing method as a function of the harmonic order in the fringe signal is presented. The error-compensating properties of the algorithms in families I and II are investigated by the Fourier spectra analysing method. It is found that the averaging technique, when used in any of the algorithm with π/2 phase steps, can improve the phase-shifting algorithm property: it is insensitive to phase-shift error when the fringe signal contains the first harmonic, but it can't be used to enhance the phase-shifting algorithm properties when the fringe signal contains higher order harmonics (n2). P–V (peak–valley) phase errors are calculated by the computer simulation and tables and plots are presented, from which the algorithms in families I and II are compared. It is shown that the algorithms in family I are more insensitive to phase-shift errors when the fringe signal contains the second harmonic and the algorithms in family II are more insensitive to phase-shift errors when the fringe signal is a sinusoidal waveform.     

Tunable infrared generation in KTA and applications

Noncollinear difference frequency mixing of dye laser and Nd:YAG second harmonic (fundamental) radiation from a commercial laser system is employed for the generation of 2.7–5.3 μm (1.6–1.7 μm) radiations in a flux-grown KTiOAsO₁ crystal. The generated radiation is used to scan the methane absorption in the fundamental (v ₃) and its first overtone (2v ₃) band at pressure 90 torr in a laboratory made single pass gas cell of length 33 cm.     

Transition metal derivatives of arenediazonium ions: XIV. Reactions of arenediazomolybdenum(II) complexes with neutral and anionic Lewis bases

The reactions of arenediazomolybdenum(II) complexes such as [(η-C₅H₅)Mo(N₂C₆H₄CH₃-p)I₂]₂, (η-C₅H₅)Mo(CO species with neutral and anionic monodentate or chelating ligands have been investigated. The new arenediazo complexes isolated from these reactions include neutral species such as (η-C₅H₅)Mo(PPh₃)(N₂C₆H₄CH₃-p)I₂ and (η-C₅H₅)Mo(N₂C₆H₄CH₃-p) cations of the type [η-C₅H₅)Mo(bipy)(N₂C₆H₄CH₃-p)I]⁺ and the anion [(η-C₅H₅)Mo(N₂C₆H₄CH₃-p)I₃]^?. The structures of the new complexes are discussed.
