Acoustic properties of the disordered relaxor ferroelectric PbSc1/2Ta1/2O3

The behavior of acoustic phonons in crystals of a relaxor ferroelectric, namely, the lead scandium tantalate PbSc_1/2Ta_1/2O₃ (PST), is studied in the vicinity of the diffuse phase transition. The behavior of longitudinal and transverse acoustic phonons in a PST single crystal is examined using Brillouin scattering. The phonon subsystem is found to behave anomalously in the vicinity of T = 297 K, which can probably be assigned to the existence of a phase transition. Analysis of the results obtained yields the values of the elastic moduli C₁₁, C₁₂, and C₄₄ for the cubic phase of the crystal over a wide temperature range.     

Preparation of alkyl-containing derivatives of chitosan and its oligomers in polymer-analogous reactions

It has been shown that the interaction of chitosan and oligochitosan with unsaturated acrylic esters via the nucleophilic addition mechanism and their condensation with heptadecyl isocyanate yield hydrophobic alkyl-containing derivatives of the above polymers. The method of modification of oligochitosan in reactions via end functional groups is developed.     

Hexamolybdoaluminates and Hexamolybdochromates of Some Trivalent Lanthanides and Americium

The reactions of some rare-earth elements (La, Ce, Sm, Lu, Gd) and Am(III) with heteropolymolybdate anions are studied. The complexation rate constants of Am(III) in a solution with Al(OH)₆Mo₆O₁₈ ^3- and Cr(OH)₆MoO₁₈ ^3- ₆ (₁ = 18 ± 6 and 25 ± 5, respectively) are determined by spectral methods. The Ln[Al(OH)₆Mo₆O₁₈] · nH₂O, Eu[Cr(OH)₆Mo₆O₁₈] · nH₂O, and Am[Al(OH)₆Mo₆O₁₈] · nH₂O isostructural compounds are synthesized. The crystal structure of the Sm[Al(OH)₆Mo₆O₁₈] · 11H₂O complex was determined by the X-ray diffraction analysis. The results of spectroscopic and thermogravimetric studies of the obtained compounds are presented.     

Solvolysis of 2-Amino-2-thiazoline Derivatives by Aliphatic Amino Alcohols

The opening of the thiazoline ring upon the action of amino alcohols was studied. The effects of the reagent ratio and structures of the heterocycles and amino alcohols on aminolysis were investigated. A new method was developed for the preparative synthesis of a series of N'-(hydroxyalkyl)-2-guanidinoalkanethiols.     

Interaction of Aluminium (III) with the f-Family Ions Np(VI), Pu(VI), Np(V), Np(IV), Pu(IV), Nd(III), and Am(III) in the Course of Simultaneous Hydrolysis

The interaction of Np(VI), Pu(VI), Np(V), Np(IV), Pu(IV), Nd(III), and Am(III) with Al(III) in solutions at pH 0–4 was studied by the spectrophotometric method. It was shown that, in the range of pH 3–4, the hydrolyzed forms of neptunyl and plutonyl react with the hydrolyzed forms of aluminium. In the case of Pu(VI), the mixed hydroxoaqua complexes (H₂O)₃PuO₂(-OH)₂Al(OH)(H₂O)₃ ²⁺ or (H₂O)₄PuO₂OAl(OH)(H₂O)₄ ²⁺ are formed at the first stage of hydrolysis. Np(VI) also forms similar hydroxoaqua complexes with Al(III). The formation of the mixed hydroxoaqua complexes was also observed when Np(IV) or Pu(IV) was simultaneously hydrolyzed with Al(III) at pH 1.5–2.5. The Np(IV) complex with Al(III) has, most likely, the formula (H₂O) _n (OH)Np(-OH)₂Al(OH)(H₂O)₃ ³⁺. At pH from 2 to 4.1 (when aluminium hydroxide precipitates), the Np(V) or Nd(III) ions exist in solutions with or without Al(III) in similar forms. When pH is increased to 5–5.5, these ions are almost not captured by the aluminium hydroxide precipitate.

Crystal Structure of Sodium Perchloratotriacetatoneptunate(V) Monohydrate Na<Subscript>3</Subscript>NpO<Subscript>2</Subscript>(OOCCH<Subscript>3</Subscript>)<Subscript>3</Subscript>ClO<Subscript>4</Subscript> · H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O

The crystal structure of Na₃NpO₂(OOCCH₃)₃ClO₄ · H₂O was studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. The structure is composed of the complex anions NpO₂(OOCCH₃)₃]²⁻, perchlorate anions, Na cations, and water molecules. The oxygen environment of Np(V) is a hexagonal bipyramid whose equatorial plane is formed by the oxygen atoms of three acetate ions.
