On the use of the Galerkin method for 3D numerical modelling of the general circulation: the South Atlantic eperiment

A linear three‐dimensional hydrodynamical numerical model, with the application of the Galerkin Method for the vertical dependence, is here presented. The spherical coordinate system is used, in order to allow large‐scale simulations. The equations and mathematical development of the model are shown in detail, together with the boundary and initial conditions, and the sequence of equations' solution. The model is applied to the South Atlantic Ocean, for estimating typical seasonal circulations, and the results are summarized in maps of currents at surface and 1000 m depth, and in transport values of the Brazil Current between 30°S and 40°S. Contribution to the mass spectrometry of substituted α,ω-alkane diamines The main mass spectral fragmentation pattern of compounds of types 1 to 4 is discussed. After loss of C₆H₅ · CH₂ · from the molecular ion the acid correspondin to the N,N-disubstituted residue is splitted off. The mechanism of this fragmentation reaction depends on the member of CH₂-groups between the two nitrogen atoms (Schemes 1 and 3) and on the substitution pattern of both nitrogens (Scheme 2).     

Synthesis of angiotensins,bradykinins and substance P octapeptides in which the residues Phe and Tyr have been replaced with car and of [Car1, Leu5]-enkephalin

Thirteen peptides, analogues of bradykinin (BK), enkephalin, Substance P (SP) and [Sar¹]-angiotensin II ([Sar¹]-AT_II) have been synthesized by the solid-phase method. In all these peptides the residue Phe and Tyr were substituted with the boron-containing amino-acid L -o-carboranylalanine (Car). The purity and identity of the peptides were established by TLC., cellulose-electrophoresis and amino acid analysis.

Aristoserratine, a New Indole Alkaloid from Aristotelia serrata W.R.B. OLIVER and from A. peduncularis (LABILL .) HOOK . F. The new indole alkaloid aristoserratine (2) has been isolated from Aristotelia. Its structure and absolute configuration were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data.     

Novel α-Aminophosphonates and α-Aminophosphonic Acids: Synthesis,Molecular Docking and Evaluation of Antifungal Activity against Scedosporium Species

The Scedosporium genus is an emerging pathogen with worldwide prevalence and high mortality rates that gives multidrug resistance to antifungals; therefore, pharmacological alternatives must be sought for the treatment of diseases caused by this fungus. In the present project, six new α-aminophosphates were synthesized by the Kabachnik–Fields multicomponent reaction by vortex agitation, and six new monohydrolyzed α-aminophosphonic acids were synthesized by an alkaline hydrolysis reaction. Antifungal activity was evaluated using the agar diffusion method as an initial screening to determine the most active compound compared to voriconazole; then it was evaluated against 23 strains of the genus Scedosporium following the M38-A2 protocol from CLSI (activity range: 648.76–700 µg/mL). Results showed that compound 5f exhibited the highest antifungal activity according to the agar diffusion method (≤1 mg/mL). Cytotoxicity against healthy COS-7 cells was also evaluated by the MTT assay and it was shown that compound 5f exhibits a lower toxicity in comparison to voriconazole at the same concentration (1000 µM). A docking study was conducted afterwards, showing that the possible mechanism of action of the compound is through the inhibition of allosteric 14-α-demethylase. Taking these results as a basis, 5f is presented as a compound with attractive properties for further studies.

The proof involves a counting argument based on families of closed sets associated with theSperner closures in the filters of ?. The Sperner closure ofU in ? is the intersection of the members of the greatest Sperner antichain of ? _U = {V ∈ ?|V ?U}. This closure operation is related to a generalization of maximality in posets.
