Synthesis of 1-(5-phenyl-2H-tetrazol-2-ylacetyl)-4-substituted thiosemicarbazides as possible antiinflammatory agents

A series of 1-(5-phenyl-2H-tetrazol-2-ylacetyl)-4-substituted thiosemicarbazids were prepared as possible antiinflammatory agents. Their antiproteolytic activity was reported.     

Carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of anti-inflammatory drugs: Phenylbutazone,oxyphenbutazone and indomethacin

The ¹³C nmr chemical shifts of phenylbutazone, oxyphenbutazone, indomethacin and indole-3-acetic acid are reported. The assignments of various carbon resonances are made on the basis of the substitution effects on benzene shifts, multiplicities generated in SFORD spectra, nuclear overhauser enhancement for protonated carbons, and the comparison with analogous compounds.     

Complexes of metal ions with phosphorus or arsenic containing ligands. Part XVIII. Chelates ofo-phenylenebis(diarylarsines) with cobalt(II) and nickel(II) halides and pseudohalides

Summary Ten complexes of nickel(II) and cobalt(II) witho-phenylenebis(diphenylarsine), (pdpa) ando-phenylenebis(di-p-tolylarsine), (pdta) have been synthesised. The stoichiometry of complexes is markedly dependent upon the reaction temperature, thus reaction atca. 0° gives the M(A-A)₂X₂ chelates, [M = Ni, X = Br, (A-A) = pdpa; M = Ni, X = I, (A-A) = pdpa, pdta; M = Co, X = CNS, (A-A) = pdpa] whereas at higher temperatures the M(A-A)X₂ chelates [M = Ni, X = Br, I, (A-A) = pdpa, pdta; M = Co, X = CNS, (A-A) = pdpa or pdta] are obtained. The Ni(A-A)₂I₂ compounds can be converted into Ni(A-A)I₂ by boiling under reflux in n-BuOH; the conversion can be reversed by cooling a CH₂Cl₂ solution of the latter at or below 0°. Stereochemical assignments of all the new complexes have been made on the basis of room temperature _eff values, molar conductance, i.r. and u.v. data.     

4-(Arylaminothiocarbonyl)-1-(1-o-methoxyphenylcarbamido)-ethylpiperazines as anticonvulsants

Several 4-(arylaminothiocarbonyl)-1-(1-o-methoxyphenylcarbamido)-ethylpiperazines were synthesized and evaluated for their anticonvulsant activity against pentylenetetrazol-induced seizures in mice. The ability of substituted piperazines to inhibit in vitro respiratory activity of rat brain homogenates was also determined to study their structure-activity relationship.     

Concentrated reverse micelles in a random graft block copolymer system: structure and in-situ synthesis of silver nanoparticles

The structure and rheological properties of a poly(dimethylsiloxane)-graft-poly(oxyethylene) copolymer at high concentrations in block-selective solvents were studied by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and rheometry. Analysis of SAXS data indicates that quasispherical, reverse micellar aggregates (with no ordered packing) are present in concentrated solutions of the copolymer in nonpolar solvents, and that upon addition of water, the size of such aggregates increases due to the solubilization inside the micellar cores. The viscosity of concentrated polymer solutions increases exponentially as water is added, and finally, viscoelastic, gel-like behavior is found in the vicinity of the phase separation limit. It was found that small silver nanoparticles with an average diameter of ≈3 nm can be synthesized inside the copolymer aggregates without the need of a reducing agent; namely, particles embedded in a viscoelastic matrix are obtained. The synthesis seems to follow first-order kinetics. Synthesis of some newer 5-(5-aryl-2H-tetrazol-2-ylmethyl)-4-substituted-s-triazole-3-thiols as possible antiinflammatory agents

Several 1-(5-aryl-2H-tetrazol-2-ylacetyl)-4-substituted thiosemicarbazides and 5-(5-aryl-2H-tetrazol-2-yl-methyl)-4-substituted-s-triazole-3-thiols were synthesized as possible antiinflammatory agents. These compounds were characterized by their elemental, infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance analysis.     

Synthesis and Antibacterial Studies of Some Novel 2-(Coumarin-3-yl)-5-mercapto-1,3,4-oxadiazoles Containing 2,4,6-Trisubstituted s-Triazine Derivatives

A new series of 2-(coumarin-3-yl)-5-mercapto-1,3,4-oxadiazoles based on various aryl thiourea/ureas incorporating a 1,3,5-s-triazine moiety is reported. The components of this series have been obtained by the reaction of cyanuric chloride (1) with 2-(coumarin-3-yl)-5-mercapto-1,3,4-oxadiazole (2). The prepared 2-{(coumarin-3-yl-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl)-5-thio}-4,6-dichloro-s-triazine (3) was subsequently treated with morpholine (4) to form 2-{(coumarin-3-yl-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl)-5-thio}-4-(morpholino)-6-chloro-s-triazine (5). This was further treated with various substituted aryl urea/thioureas (6a–k/7a–k) to afford the title compounds 8a–k and 9a–k, which were and tested for their antibacterial activity (MIC) against different microorganisms. The structures of the novel synthesized compound have been established on the basis of ¹H NMR and FT-IR data together with elemental analysis.
