Arene sulfenylation by arenesulfenamides and arenesulfenylacetates

Two systems for arene sulfenylation were investigated: arenesulfenamides in the presence of SO₃ and sulfenylacetate complexes with AlBr₃. Arylselenenation of conjugated dienes by arylselenenamides in the presence of phosphorus(V) oxyhalides

Arylselenenation of conjugated and non-conjugated dienes by arylselenenamides in the presence of phosphorus(V) oxyhalides has been studied. Reactions with conjugated dienes lead to 1,4-adducts whilst only addition to double bonds takes place in reactions with non-conjugated dienes.     

Electrochemical reduction of 4-methyl-4-(trichloromethyl)cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-one

The properties of 4-methyl-4-(trichloromethyl)cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-one which contains the trichloromethyl substituent at a quaternary carbon atom have been studied by cyclic voltammetry, rotating disk electrode voltammetry, and preparative electrolysis. Reductive dehalogenation involves initial two-electron reductive elimination of one of the geminal chlorine atoms followed by consecutive addition of proton, simultaneous elimination of the two residual halogen atoms to form carbene, and rearrangement of cyclohexadienone into the corresponding 4-methylcyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-one.     

Coordination properties of 1,3-benzothiazoles. Formation of a polymeric complex with square-planar coordination around the copper(II) ion in the reaction of CuCl2·6H2O with 1,2-bis[2-(1,3-benzo-thiazol-2-yl)phenylthio]ethane

It is shown that a coordination polymer is formed by the reaction of 1,2-bis[2-(1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)-phenylthio]ethane with copper(II) chloride in a mixture of ethanol and chloroform at room temperature. The structure of the polymer has been determined by X-ray crystallography. The copper atom in the coordination polymer has a square-planar ligand environment and is coordinated to the nitrogen atoms of the benzothiazole rings of two different molecules of ligand and two chloride anions. Arylsulfenylation of heterocyclic compounds with arylsulfenamides in the presence of phosphorus(V) oxochloride

The electrophilic sulfenylation of a series of indoles and pyrroles with arylsulfenamides in the presence of phophorus(V) oxohalide has been studied. It has been shown that arylsulfenylation of indoles led to products with substitution at position 3, while in the case of pyrrole it occurred at position 2.     

Formation of palladium(II) complex with triarylphosphine ligand on the surface of gold electrode modified with di(11-hydroxyundecyl)disulfide. Cyclic voltammetry study

Using the method of cyclic voltammetry the possibility of formation of the Pd(II) complex with triarylphosphine ligand on the gold electrode surface is shown resulting from the following sequence of reactions: (1) formation of the self-organized monolayer (SOM) of di(11-mercaptoundecyl)disulfide on the Au surface; (2) esterification of terminal hydroxy groups of the formed SOM with diphenyl(p-carboxyphenyl) phosphine; (3) formation of the complex compound fixed on the surface by treatment of the modified electrode with solution of PdCl₂ in CH₃CN. The possibility of electrocatalytic reduction of iodobenzene on the gold electrode with participation of the obtained Pd(II) complex is demonstrated.     

New organic picolylamine-type ligands and electrochemical study of their complexation with Cu(MeCN)<Subscript>4</Subscript>ClO<Subscript>4</Subscript>

A series of novel organic ligands with dipicolylamine and disulfide groups connected by polymethylene, alkylaryl, alkoxyaryl, or alkoxycarbonyl linker was synthesized. The electrochemical study by cyclic voltammetry was carried out for two synthesized ligands, and the formation of the complexes with Cu(MeCN)ClO₄ in the solution or on the gold electrode surface was established. The complex of Cu^I with 1,24-bis[N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-glycinoyloxy]-12,13-dithiatetracosane chemisorbed on the Au electrode is capable of binding molecular oxygen from solution.
