Modification of Paving Asphalts with Sulfur

Sulfur dissolved in oil components of asphalt is a binder, filler, and chemical co-reagent at once. The structure of sulfur-extended asphalt depends on its formula and heating temperature. Road pavement based on sulfur-extended asphalt demonstrates higher durability as compared to that with the conventional binders.     

Identification of Oxygen-containing Compounds in Benzine and Kerosene Oil Fractions and Determination of Sulfur and Halogen Content in Them

A procedure based on X-ray fluorescence and inductively coupled plasma with mass spectrometric recording was developed for express determination of the content of sulfur and halogen-containing compounds in benzine and kerosene oil fractions. Oxygen-containing compounds in gasolines and reforming products were identified by chromatography-mass spectrometry.     

Estimation of Quality of Petroleum Bitumens by NMR Spectroscopy and X-ray Diffraction

Certified and substandard paving bituments of Kirishi Petroleum Processing Plant were studied by ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The differences in the aromaticity degree of asphaltenes and malthenes of these bitumens were revealed. The parameters of layered-block stacks of the asphaltenes were measured.     

Mechanism of Cyclohexane Ozonolysis Considering Alternative Pathways

Ozonolysis of cyclohexane was considered taking into account the alternative pathway of recombination of peroxy radicals to form cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone. The rate constants of the reactions involved were determined experimentally or by calculations (optimization of the process model).     

Improving the Cetane Number of Diesel Fuels

Effect of paraffins C_{1 0}-C_{1 3}, C_{1 4}-C_{1 7}, C_{1 8}-C_{2 3}, tert-butyl hydroperoxide, cumyl hydroperoxide, and isopropyl nitrate as cetane number improvers for summer- and winter-grade diesel fuels, added in amount of 0.4-5 wt %, is studied.     

Effect of Various High-Octane Additives on Antiknock Quality of Gasolines

The possibility of manufacturing AI-92 and AI-95 high-octane blended gasolines using reformer naphthas¹, methyl tert-butyl ether, and an additive based on N-methylaniline and (methylcyclopentadienyl)manganese tricarbonyl is studied.     

Analysis of Impurities in Mixtures of West-Siberian Crude Oils

The content of B, Mg, Na, Al, P, V, Mn, Cu, Cr, Fe, Ni, Zn, Ag, Br, Sn, I, Ba, W, Pb, and Bi in 24 samples of industrial mixtures of West-Siberian oils was studied using the method of inductively coupled plasma with mass spectrometric registration.
