Study on the Chemical Constituent from the Seed of Litchi chinensis Sonn.

Seed of Litchi chinensis Sonn. is a traditional Chinese medicine, having curative effects on gastric disease, diabetes,and relieving pain.[1] Two new compounds 4-O-p-coumaroylquinic acid butyl ester (1) and 3-O-p-coumaroylquinic acid butyl ester (2), along with five known compounds: 5-O-p-coumaroylquinic acid butyl ester (3),[2] 3-O-p-coumaroylquinic acid methyl ester (4),[3] n-butyl-1-β-D-fructopyranoside (5),[4] D-1-O-methylmyo-inositol (6)[5] and 1H-imidazole-2,3-dihydro-2-oxo-4-carboxylic acid methyl ester (7)[5] were isolated and purified from the ethanol extracts of the seed of L.chinensis Sonn. Their structures, shown in Figure 1, were elucidated by ESI-MS, 1H NMR and 13C NMR, including 2DNMR spectroscopy.     

Characteristics in optimization of CGH for array generator

A method of simulated annealing in optimization of a computer generated holo-gram(CGH)is presented.The characteristics of energy in annealing curve are analyzed.Thecooling schedule such as giving an initial temperature,the temperature function,the numberof interactions and stopping criterion are discussed.As an example,an optimization of phaserelief kinoform,a CGH with multiple phase levels,is implemented.     

Study of the interaction of Zn^2＋ with Aβ（10-21） by fluorescamine assay

Zinc may play a role as a co-factor in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease(AD)through influencing the conformation and neurotoxicity of amyloidβ-protein(Aβ).Using the fluorescamine assay,we show for the first time that Zn~(2 )induced Aβ(10-21) aggregate in a concentration-dependent manner.These results indicate that Aβ(10-21)can be used as an in vitro model in Zn~(2 )- induced Aβaggregation and that the region 10-21 to be the minimal fragment of zinc-binding domain of full length Aβ(1-42).     

Study on the reaction of triple helix poly(A:2I) with Cu~(2+)

The effect of Cu2+ on the triple-stranded helical structure of poly(A:2I) was studied by means of circular dichroism spectral method with the help of ultraviolet spectral and ethidium bromide fluorescence probe methods. It was found that Cu2+ destabilizes the structure of the triple helix poly(A:2I) and induces its structural transformations, meanwhile, the transformations can be partially reversed by a higher NaCl concentration. The structural transformations may be expressed by the following scheme: poly(A:2I) - poly(A:I) + poly(I)- poly(A) + 2poly(I)

Combined cation-exchange and extraction chromatography for the concomitant separation of Zr, Hf, Th, and the Lanthanides from geological materials

A new method was developed, aiming to overcome the iron and titanium interferences which severely limit the applications of a recently introduced extraction chromatography material, referred to as RE resin (formerly, RE Spec), to the analysis of geological samples. The separation scheme is based on the combined use, in tandem columns, of the conventional AG50WX4 cation-exchange resin and the RE extraction chromatography material, without any intervening evaporation step. The Lanthanides are recovered quantitatively, while recoveries for Zr, Hf and Th range from 94 to 98%. These three elements are determined using the isotope dilution method, thereby alleviating the need for a yield correction. Compared with conventional methods based on cation-exchange, this combined scheme offers a greater multi-element capability, significant miniaturisation, acid wastes reduction, and a higher degree of purity of the separated analytes with regard to unwanted elements such as Ba and residual Ca and Al. This concomitant isolation of 17 trace elements of great interest in the Earth and Environmental Sciences, achieved with excellent recoveries and satisfactory blank levels, can be used prior to high precision analysis of ultra-trace elements in geological samples by ICP-Mass Spectrometry.     

An efficient and convenient method for preparation of disulfides from thiols using air as oxidant catalyzed by Co-Salophen

Disulfides have been synthesized by oxidation of thiols using air as oxidant catalyzed by Co-Salophen with high yields,mild and neutral conditions,and easy procedures of the catalyst.The products were confirmed by ~1H NMR and IR.     

FURTHER STUDIES ON STROH-TYPE FORMALISMS FOR ANISOTROPIC PLATES WITH BENDING-EXTENSION COUPLING

Stroh-type formalisms for anisotropic thin plates in literature are reviewed and dis- cussed,and two kinds of hybrid Stroh-type formalisms are compared.It is seen that the two Stroh- type formalisms are essentially equivalent.With simple transfer relations,they can be expressed each other.In addition,with properly defined notation systems,the two Stroh-type formalisms can also be written in unified forms,which will be convenient in applications.
