A Viologen-bearing Coordination Polymer with Multi-stimuli Responsive Behaviors

A viologen-bearing Zn（Ⅱ） coordination polymer, [Zn（Bpybc）SO₄]·H₂O, has been successfully synthesized and structurally characterized. The title compound exhibits sunlight and UV-induced photochromism, thermoschromism, and amine-selective chemochromism.     

Numerical study of dynamic zigzag patterns in migrating epithelial tissue

Collective cell migration plays a crucial role in embryonic development, metastasis, and wound healing. Nevertheless, to the best of our knowledge, how the coordination between the cell motility and deformations affects the collective motion of epithelial cells is not fully understood. In this work, we propose a modified self-propelled Voronoi model for epithelial cell migration incorporating the coupling between the self-propulsion of cells and the polarization of the cell elongation. At a high coupling strength,we observe the emergence of backward traveling band structures formed by highly aligned cells, which can be regulated by cell elongations or shape anisotropy. Increasing the cell shape anisotropy, we find that large bands split into multiple small microbands. The latter essentially forms a dynamic zigzag pattern, in which the angle between the polarization direction of the bands and the migration direction switches alternatively between π/4 and-π/4 because the cells are forced to move preferentially in the anterior direction. We also analyzed the disclinations in the cell monolayer, force distribution near the domain boundaries and the shape alignment of the epithelial monolayer during the formation of this dynamic pattern. The present findings may further our understanding of stripe pattern formations in living systems and inspire potential designs for cell sorting.     

Characteristics of black carbon aerosol in Jiaxing,China during autumn 2013

We conducted measurements of black carbon（BC） aerosol in Jiaxing,China during autumn from September 26 to November 30,2013.We investigated temporal and diurnal variations of BC,and its correlations with meteorological parameters and other major pollutants.Results showed that hourly mass concentrations of BC ranged from 0.2 to 22.0 μg/m³,with an average of 5.1 μg/m³.The diurnai variation of BC exhibited a bimodal distribution,with peaks at 07:00 and 18:00.The morning peak was larger than the evening peak.The mass percentages of BC in PM_2.5 and PM₁₀ were 7.1%and 4.8%,respectively.The absorption coefficient of BC was calculated to be 44.4 Mm^-1,which accounted for 11.1%of the total aerosol extinction.BC was mainly emitted from local sources in southwestern Jiaxing where BC concentrations were generally greater than 11 μg/m³ during the measurement period.Correlation analysis indicated that the main sources of BC were motor vehicle exhaust,and domestic and industrial combustion.     

Mass and isotopic concentrations of water-insoluble refractory carbon in total suspended particulates at Mt.Waliguan Observatory(China)

Mass concentration and isotopic values δ¹³C and ¹⁴C are presented for the water-insoluble refractory carbon（WIRC） component of total suspended particulates（TSP）,collected weekly during 2003,as well as from October 2005 to May 2006 at the WMO-GAW Mt.Waliguan（WLG） site.The overall average WIRC mass concentration was（1183±120）ng/m³（n = 79）,while seasonal averages were 2081 ±1707（spring）,454±205（summer）,650±411（autumn）,and 1019±703（winter） ng/m3.Seasonal variations in WIRC mass concentrations were consistent with black carbon measurements from an aethalometer,although WIRC concentrations were typically higher,especially in winter and spring.The δ¹³C PDB value（-25.3 ± 0.8）%.determined for WIRC suggests that its sources are C₃ biomass or fossil fuel combustion.No seasonal change in δ¹³C PDB was evident.The average percent Modern Carbon（pMC） for ¹⁴C in WIRC for winter and spring was（67.2 ± 7.7）%（n = 29）.Lower pMC values were associated with air masses transported from the area east of WLG,while higher pMC values were associated with air masses from the Tibetan Plateau,southwest of WLG.Elevated pMC values with abnormally high mass concentrations of TSP and WIRC were measured during a dust storm event.     

Design of broadband achromatic metasurface device based on phase-change material Ge2Sb2Te5

Based on the phase-change material Ge₂Sb₂Te₅ (GST), achromatic metasurface optical device in the longer-infrared wavelength is designed. With the combination of the linear phase gradient GST nanopillar and the adjustment of the crystalline fraction m value of GST, the polarization insensitive achromic metalenses and beam deflector metasurface within the longer-infrared wavelength 9.5 μm to 13 μm are realized. The design results show that the achromatic metalenses can be focused on the same focal plane within the working waveband. The simulation calculation results show that the full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the focusing spot reaches the diffraction limit at each wavelength. In addition, the same method is also used to design a broadband achromatic beam deflector metasurface with the same deflection angle of 19°. The method proposed in this article not only provides new ideas for the design of achromatic metasurfaces, but also provides new possibilities for the integration of optical imaging, optical coding and other related optical systems.     

Method of Homomorphic Encryption

The existing homomorphie eneryption scheme is based on ring of the integer, and the possible operators are restricted to addition and multiplication only. In this paper, a new operation is defined Similar Modul. Base on the Similar Modul, the number sets of the homomorphic encryption scheme is extended to real number, and the possible operators are extended to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Our new approach provides a practical ways of implementation because of the extension of the operators and the number sets.

A convenient and large-scale preparation of retinoic acid 1 from β-ionone in five steps with 38% overall yield is described.The key steps are the epoxidization of 2 with a new methylated agent and the condensation 4 with tetraethyl methylenediphophonate in one-pot procedure to prepare 6.

The Generalized West Decomposition of Operators and Other Compact Perturbation Problems

This paper introduces the concept of the generalized Riesz operators and the concept of the generalized West decomposition of a general operator which generalizes the definition of the West decomposition of Riesz operators, and proves that the following three statements are equivalent on a general Banach space： （a） Every generalized Riesz operator has the generalized West decomposition; （b） Every operator makes strong Stampfli theorem true; Every operator has Apostol＇s compact correction.
