Providing high-quality video for packet-switched wireless video telephony on handheld devices is a challenging task due to packet loss, varying bandwidth, and end-to-end delay constraints. While many error resilience techniques have been proposed for video transmission over wireless channels, only a few were specifically designed for mobile video telephony. We propose a low-complexity channel-adaptive error resilience technique for packet-switched mobile video telephony, which combines rateless coding, feedback, and reference picture selection. In contrast to previous approaches, our technique uses cumulative feedback at every transmission opportunity and predicts when decoding is likely to fail so that reference picture selection can be triggered at an early stage. Experimental results for H.264 video sequences show that the proposed technique can achieve improvements of 1.64 dB in peak signal-to-noise ratio over benchmark techniques in simulated Long-Term Evolution networks.  相似文献

Physalis angulata L. belongs to the family Solanaceae and is distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical regions. Physalis angulata leaf and fruit extracts were assessed for in vitro anticancer, antioxidant activity, and total phenolic and flavonoid content. The GC-MS technique investigated the chemical composition and structure of bioactive chemicals reported in extracts. The anticancer activity results revealed a decrease in the percentage of anticancer cells’ viability in a concentration- and time-dependent way. We also noticed morphological alterations in the cells, which we believe are related to Physalis angulata extracts. Under light microscopy, we observed that as the concentration of ethanolic extract (fruit and leaves) treated HeLa cells increased, the number of cells began to decrease.  相似文献

Broadcasting is an important phenomenon, because it serves as simplest mode of communication in a network, via which each node disseminates information to their neighboring nodes simultaneously. Broadcasting is widely used in various kind of networks, such as wireless sensor networks, wireless networks, and ad-hoc networks. Similarly, in cognitive radio networks (CRNs), broadcasting is also used to perform many tasks including neighbor discovery, spectrum mobility, spectrum sharing, and dissemination of message throughout the network. The traditional approach that has been used as broadcasting in CRNs is simple flooding in which a message is disseminated in the network without any strategy check. Simple flooding can cause major setbacks in the network, such as excessive redundant rebroadcasts, and collision drops which collectively are termed as broadcast storm problem. To reduce the effects of broadcast storm problem in wireless networks, we propose and compare four broadcasting strategies for cognitive radio networks in this paper. These four strategies are: (1) probability based, (2) counter based, (3) distance based, and (4) area based. Extensive NS-2 based simulations are carried out on different threshold values for each broadcasting strategy. After experimental evaluation, it is demonstrated that counter based broadcasting surpasses other broadcasting strategies by achieving maximum delivery ratio of 60% and by decreasing redundant rebroadcasts and collision drops up to 44 and 37% respectively.

Brain tumours have unresolved challenges that include delay prognosis and lower patient survival rate. The increased understanding of the molecular pathways underlying cancer progression has aided in developing various anticancer medications. Brain cancer is the most malignant and invasive type of cancer, with several subtypes. According to the WHO, they are classified as ependymal tumours, chordomas, gangliocytomas, medulloblastomas, oligodendroglial tumours, diffuse astrocytomas, and other astrocytic tumours on the basis of their heterogeneity and molecular mechanisms. The present study is based on the most recent research trends, emphasising glioblastoma cells classified as astrocytoma. Brain cancer treatment is hindered by the failure of drugs to cross the blood–brain barrier (BBB), which is highly impregnableto foreign molecule entry. Moreover, currently available medications frequently fail to cross the BBB, whereas chemotherapy and radiotherapy are too expensive to be afforded by an average incomeperson and have many associated side effects. When compared to our current understanding of molecularly targeted chemotherapeutic agents, it appears that investigating the efficacy of specific phytochemicals in cancer treatment may be beneficial. Plants and their derivatives are game changers because they are efficacious, affordable, environmentally friendly, faster, and less toxic for the treatment of benign and malignant tumours. Over the past few years, nanotechnology has made a steady progress in diagnosing and treating cancers, particularly brain tumours. This article discusses the effects of phytochemicals encapsulated in nanoparticles on molecular targets in brain tumours, along with their limitations and potential challenges.  相似文献
