We present an adaptive method to extract shape-preserving information from a univariate data sample. The behavior of the signal is obtained by interpolating at adaptively selected few data points by a linear combination of multiquadrics with variable scaling parameters. On the theoretical side, we give a sufficient condition for existence of the scaled multiquadric interpolant. Electric light scattering and microelectrophoresis were applied to investigate the electric moments (permanent dipole moment and electric polarizability and electrophoretic mobility of envelope-free chloroplasts and photosystem II (PS II particles. The effect of the removal of the extrinsic polypeptides (18, 24 and 33 kDa) on the electric moments was also studied. A significant difference was observed between the orientation behaviour of chloroplasts and PS II preparations. The data indicate that the permanent and induced dipole moments contribute to the orientation of the PS II particles, whereas chloroplasts possess induced dipole moment only.
NaCl and Tris treatments of PS II preparations influence both the transverse permanent dipole moment and the electric polarizability of PS II particles. The increase in the electrophoretic mobility of PS II particles on removal of the extrinsic proteins corresponds to an increase in the electric polarizability value, demonstrating its interfacial nature. 相似文献

We propose a physical interpretation of the so-called van der Waals equation of state for rubbers, which gives a relation between the force and the deformation. On a phenomenological basis this equation takes the finite extensibility and a non-defined interaction into account. Here the fininte extensibility is discussed for the dilute case (no entanglements) and the highly entangled limit. The intramolecular interactions are described by orientational effects. Abstract— Photochemical reactions of 6-azidocoumarin and 7-azido-4-methylcoumarin in the presence of secondary amines have been investigated for their potential applications in photoaffinity labeling. It was found that the singlet nitrene generated from 6-azidocoumarin isomerized to a dehydroazepine intermediate that reacted with an amine to yield two isomeric adducts. Photolysis of 7-azido-4-meth-ylcoumarin, in contrast, gave a triplet nitrene that abstracted hydrogen atoms from secondary amine molecules to form 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin as the major product. The difference in the intersystem crossing rate between the two compounds originates from the azido position relative to the carbonyl group. Because of its ability to form a covalent linkage with a nucleophile, 6-azidocoumarin is deemed to have a greater potential as a photoaffinity label than 7-azido-4-methylcoumarin. 相似文献

The main light-harvesting chl a/b pigment-protein complex of photosystem II (LHCII) in isolated state forms macroaggregates with different ultrastructure and lipid content [I. Simidjiev, V. Barzda, L. Mustardy, G. Garab, Anal. Biochem. 250 (1997) 169-175]. The thermodynamic stability of highly delipidated tightly bound LHCII macroaggregates is studied by differential scanning calorimetry and fluorescence spectroscopy. The calorimetric profile of LHCII is asymmetric, the denaturation transition is taking place at around 72 degrees C. A shoulder, which overlaps with the main denaturation transition, appears around 58 degrees C. The denaturation temperature strongly depends on the scanning rate indicating the kinetic nature of the thermal destabilization of LHCII macroaggregates. The fluorescence data prove that the thermal denaturation of LHCII is an irreversible and kinetically controlled process. 相似文献

Although the importance of quality management in the medical laboratory has been emphasized, we are unaware of any interventional studies demonstrating benefits of implementation of recommendations of the International Standards Organization (ISO). In the following 5-year follow-up study, we implemented quality management as stipulated by the ISO, received a certificate of approval, and determined how the program affected customer complaints. From 1997 to 2001 there was only a slight decrease in the number of customer complaints, but a significant continuing downward trend in the proportion of justified complaints (chi-squared test, p<0.001). In fact in 2001 the proportion of justified complaints had decreased by nearly 80% (relative risk, 0.22; 95% confidence interval, 0.09–0.52)), to only 10.9% of the total complaints. We conclude that the use of the ISO 9000 along with good laboratory practice resulted in a significant decrease in the proportion of justified complaints. 相似文献

The main aspects related to the analysis of sterol oxidation products (SOP) in foods are comprehensively reviewed. Special emphasis is placed on the critical and controversial points of this analysis because these points affect crucial analytical parameters such as precision, accuracy, selectivity, and sensitivity. The effect of sample preparation and the conditions of quantification by gas chromatography and liquid chromatography on these parameters are also reviewed. The results show that, in order to choose an adequate method to analyze SOP in a certain food, the analyst must consider its SOP concentration and matrix complexity. The term SOP includes both cholesterol oxidation products (COP) and phytosterol oxidation products (POP). The state of the art of COP and POP analysis is quite different; many more studies have dealt with the analysis of COP than of POP. However, most of the results presented here about COP analysis may be extrapolated to POP analysis because both groups of compounds show similar structures and characteristics. 相似文献
