Mechanistic features of the cationic copolymerization of lactones with cyclic ethers are studied for β-propiolactone (PL) with tetrahydrofuran (THF) and ?-caprolactone (CL) with THF. It is shown that, in the PL-THF system at [THF]0 > [THF]e, the copolymer is considerably enriched with the more basic THF whereas at [THF]0 < [THF]e anomalous enrichment of the copolymer with the less basic PL is observed. The mechanism of this phenomenon, which is applicable to many other cases and causes the formation of block copolymers from some heterocyclic monomers, is considered. At concentrations below equilibrium, THF is incorporated in the copolymer as pairs of units due to the effect of the penultimate unit on the thermodynamics of its addition.  相似文献

p-Carborane has been vinylated on the 2-B-atom in high yields using the Heck reaction. Thus, the reaction between 2-iodo-p-carborane and various styrenes [4-H-, 4-C(6)H(4)-, 4-Cl-, 4-Br-, 4-NO(2)-, 4-CH(3)O-, and 4-CH(3)-] resulted in the production of the corresponding trans-beta-(2-B-p-carboranyl)styrene in DMF solution when reacted in the presence of silver phosphate and the palladacycle Herrmann's catalyst.  相似文献

Coinage metal nanoparticles with high dispersion can serve as highly efficient heterogeneous catalysts. However, owing to their low melting point, poor thermal stability remains a major obstacle towards their application under reaction conditions. It is a common practice to use porous inorganic templates such as mesoporous silica SBA-15 to disperse Ag nanoparticles (NPs) against aggregation but their stability is far from satisfactory. Here, we show that the catalytic activity for hydrogenation of dimethyl oxalate (DMO) to methyl glycolate (MG) over Ag NPs dispersed on SBA-15 silica can be further promoted by incorporation of alkali metal ions at small loading, which follows the inverse order of their cationic size: Li+ > Na+ > K+ > Rb+. Among these, 5Ag1–Li0.05/SBA-15 can double the MG yield compared to pristine 5Ag/SBA-15 under identical conditions with superior thermal stability. Akin to the effect of an ionic surfactant on stabilization of a micro-emulsion, the cationic charge of an alkali metal ion can maintain dispersion and modulate the surface valence of Ag NPs. Interstitial Li in the octahedral holes of the face center packed Ag lattice is for the first time confirmed by X-ray pair distribution function and electron ptychography. It is believed that this interstitial-stabilization of coinage metal nanoparticles could be broadly applicable to multi-metallic nanomaterials for a broad range of C–O bond activating catalytic reactions of esters.

Incorporation of ions in the active layer of organic semiconductor devices may lead to attractive device properties like enhanced injection and improved carrier transport. In this paper, we investigate the effect of the salt concentration on the operation of light‐emitting electrochemical cells, using experiments and numerical calculations. The current density and light emission are shown to increase linearly with increasing ion concentration over a wide range of concentrations. The increasing current is accompanied by an ion redistribution, leading to a narrowing of the recombination zone. Hence, in absence of detrimental side reactions and doping‐related luminescence quenching, the ion concentration should be as high as possible.  相似文献

Spectra are presented from a single 3D microcrystal of bacteriorhodopsin (bR) cooled to 170 K under various illumination conditions. This set is necessary and sufficient to assign the relevant crystal reference spectra. A spectral decomposition of the difference spectrum obtained following the trapping protocol of Royant et al. (2000) (Nature 406, 645-648) is given, confirming that the low temperature L-intermediate was the species that dominated the structural rearrangements previously reported. Smaller contributions from the K and M spectral intermediates are also quantified. Mechanistic insights derived from the X-ray structures of the early bR intermediates are discussed.  相似文献

The autocorrelation spectrometer is an important instrument for radio astronomy. In satellite-based spectrometers, low power consumption is essential. The correlator chip presented in this paper reduces the power consumption more than five times compared to other full-custom designs. This has been achieved by reducing the number of clocked transistors, using a compact layout of cells, which reduces wire lengths, and using parallel processing of data. Also, the low power performance is combined with a large number of lags and a high data throughput. The correlator performs 0.5-TMAC operations in 416 lags at a sample rate of 1.28-GSample/s with an input data precision of 1.5-b and a correlation period of one second. The anisotropy of the thermal expansion of polyimide films was investigated . Out-of-plane or thickness direction coefficients of linear thermal expansion (CTE) were calculated from the difference between the coefficient of volumetric expansion (CVE) and the sum of the in-plane or film direction coefficients of linear thermal expansion for commercial and spin-coated PMDA//ODA and BPDA//PPD films and spin coated BTDA//ODA/MPD films. The CVEs were obtained from a pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) technique based on Bridgeman bellows. The CVE was shown to be essentially constant, independent of molecular orientation and thickness. A decrease in the in-plane CTEs therefore occurs at the expense of an increase in the out-of-plane CTE. In all cases the calculated out-of-plane CTE was higher than the measured in-plane CTE. The ratio of the out-of-plane CTE to the in-plane CTE was 1.2, 3.8, and 49.3 for the spin-coated BTDA//ODA/MPD, PMDA//ODA, and BPDA//PPD films, respectively. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

An analog continuous-time neural network is described. Building blocks which include the capability for on-chip learning and an example network are described and test results are presented. We are using analog nonvolatile CMOS floating-gate memories for storage of the neural weights. The floating-gate memories are programmed by illuminating the entire chip with ultraviolet light. The subthreshold operation of the CMOS transistor in analog VLSI has a very low power dissipation which can be utilized to build larger computational systems, e.g., neural networks. The experimental results show that the floating-gate memories are promising, and that the building blocks are operating as separate units; however, especially the time constants involved in the computations of the continuous-time analog neural network should be studied further.  相似文献
