Spectrum asked three IEEE members from the telecommunications sector to comment on the industry's current woes and prospects. Roch Guerin discusses bandwidth as a commodity and how to deal with it. The impact of technological change on telecommunications is enormous and calls for a shift in business models. Technology is making bandwidth a commodity and it should not matter who supplies it. Competition is vital and commodity providers must be decoupled from value providers. Frank Ferrante points out that the Year 2000 crisis resulted in manufacturers being deluged with orders for new upgraded systems. Vast sums were spent to meet the demand in time. However, when Y2K was over, production stayed high and inventories continued to build, while demand effectively stopped overnight. Dazzling new innovations are needed to compel the masses to spend and manufacturers must apply their resources to deliver quickly and efficiently. Jules A. Bellisio discusses the role of engineers in bringing new ideas to the market place. Many engineers have put together ventures for the sole purpose of attracting capital. The underlying technology and business propositions were there solely to lure the unsuspecting. Summary The complete error potential is used for the study of the correlation of molecules. The correlation can be seen as a relaxation of the electrons and a relaxation of the nuclei. From the Fermi sea, the electronic relaxation gives rise to a partial excitation of each orbital which collectively generates a linear, a surface or a volume pressure; the resulting forces acting on the nuclei are defined in a general theory of the intramolecular forces. The stereoregularity of polymethylthiiranes initiated by zinc and cadmium thiolates depends upon the nature of the metal, temperature, solvent and the monomer/initiator concentrations ratio. Complexation of the metal with monomer has been studied by (13C) and (1H) NMR on a model molecule, dimethylcadmium. Cryoscopic measurements made on a soluble cadmium thiolate have shown the presence of aggregates. The relationship between these observations and polymer stereoregularity is discussed.  相似文献

(R)-(+) and (S)-(-)-benzyl malolactonates were copolymerized anionically by using triethylamine and aluminum porphyrin as initiators. Configurational composition of resulting optically active poly(benzyl β-malate) stereocopolymers depends on the enantiomeric purity in the monomer feed. Stereochemistry during the multistep synthesis starting from aspartic acid enantiomers used as precursors is discussed. It is shown that natural L(+)-aspartic acid yields (-)-poly(benzyl β-malate) which degrades to L(-)-malic acid in alkaline aqueous medium. Configurational structures were investigated by 13C NMR (75.47 MHz) and splittings of stereosensitive resonances are discussed in terms of stereosequence distributions. Results show that stereocopolymerization proceeds through random addition of chiral repeating units according to Bernoullian statistics. In order to exemplify the effect of enantiomeric composition on physical properties, thermal characteristics have been investigated by DSC for the whole series of stereocopolymers. Samples with more than 70% (S) or (R)-units are semicrystalline. Melting temperature and crystallinity increase with stereoregularity.  相似文献

Double patterning has become the most promising approach to overcome the 32 nm node challenges. Several schemes have been proposed to simplify the process, each requiring very specific materials that still have to be developed and optimized. The resist platform presented here is an image lock material which has been developed to meet the Litho-Litho-Etch (or 2P1E) approach. In this paper, we present the material development of dedicated polymers for the double imaging technique. The lithographic properties of these materials are evaluated, in term of process window (PW) and Line Edge Roughness (LER). Successful patterning of 50 and 45 nm lines at 90 nm pitch has been obtained.  相似文献

Bis-thiazolium salts, precursors of dithiadiazafulvalene (DTDAF), have been prepared. Electrochemical investigations have been carried out on these salts in order to determine the redox behavior of DTDAF. Traffic engineering aims to distribute traffic so as to "optimize" some performance criterion. This optimal distribution of traffic depends on both the routing protocol and the forwarding mechanisms in use in the network. In IP networks running the OSPF or IS-IS protocols, routing is over shortest paths, and forwarding mechanisms distribute traffic "uniformly" over equal cost shortest paths. These constraints often make achieving an optimal distribution of traffic impossible. In this paper, we propose and evaluate an approach that can realize near optimal traffic distribution without changes to routing protocols and forwarding mechanisms. In addition, we explore the tradeoff that exists between performance and the configuration overhead that our solution requires. The paper's contributions are in formulating and evaluating an approach to traffic engineering in IP networks that achieves near-optimal performance while preserving the existing infrastructure.  相似文献
