Two Hadamard matrices of order 956 of Goethals-Seidel type

No Hadamard matrices of order 956 appear in the literature. In this note we construct two such matrices. They are both of Goethals-Seidel type. In this paper, we prove some singular value inequalities for sum and product of operators. Also, we obtain several generalizations of recent inequalities. Moreover, as applications we establish some unitarily invariant norm and trace inequalities for operators which provide refinements of previous results.

Nonlinear spectral-spatial control and localization of supercontinuum radiation

We present the first observation of spatiospectral control and localization of supercontinuum light through the nonlinear interaction of spectral components in extended periodic structures. We use an array of optical waveguides in a LiNbO3 crystal and employ the interplay between diffraction and nonlinearity to dynamically control the output spectrum of the supercontinuum radiation. This effect presents an efficient scheme for optically tunable spectral filtering of supercontinua.     

Kinetic regularities of erythrocyte hemolysis and hemoglobin oxidation under the action of sulfur-nitrosyl iron complexes as nitric oxide donors

The kinetics of erythrocyte hemolysis and intra-erythrocyte hemoglobin oxidation under the action of synthetic sulfur-nitrosyl iron complexes was studied. The complexes capable of releasing nitric oxide due to spontaneous hydrolytic decomposition was studied. The addition of these complexes to a 0.2% suspension of mouse erythrocytes results in hemolysis. The kinetic curves of hemolysis exhibit an induction period, whose duration is different for each complex. The hemolysis is preceded by hemoglobin oxidation with nitric oxide penetrating into the cell. The oxidation of hemoglobin follows the first-order rate equation. The apparent first-order rate constants characterizing the NO-donating ability of each complex were determined. The hemolytic effect of the studied complexes is suggested to be related to the formation of peroxynitrite inside erythrocytes. Peroxynitrite is the cytotoxic product of interaction of nitric oxide and the superoxide radical anion.
