Synthesis and structure study of ordered arrays of ZnSe nanodots

A novel approach is presented for synthesis of ZnSe nanodot arrays by physical vapor deposition on porous aluminum oxide templates with ordered channels. The structure of nanodots was studied by scanning electron microscopy and EXAFS spectroscopy. Data were obtained for the sizes of nanodots in the array and local atomic structure parameters, i.e., the interatomic distances and coordination numbers, in comparison with the data for the ZnSe film synthesized on a smooth surface of nonporous Al₂O₃.     

Characterizing ZnS x Se(1 − x) films of various compositions via EXAFS spectroscopy

ZnS _x Se_{(1 ? x)} (x = 0.36, 0.68, and 0.73) films of various compositions are prepared by the thermal deposition of a mixture of zinc sulfide and zinc selenide powders in ultrahigh vacuum. It is shown that the produced films and the source materials are close in chemical composition. The crystal structure of the films is studied via X-ray diffraction. The local atomic environment of selenium and zinc atoms is studied by means of EXAFS spectroscopy.

Structural study of light-emitting nanocomposites based on ZnS:Cu deposited by explosive evaporation method on porous anodic Al<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript> matrices

In the work the results of structural studies of nanocomposite systems based on ZnS:Cu (5 at.% and 10 at.%) deposited by explosive evaporation on porous anodic aluminum oxide matrices fulfilled by EXAFS and X-ray phase analysis techniques have been presented. The composites under study are promising for applications in electroluminescent light sources. The results of the studies of emission intensity of light sources depending on frequency and amplitude of exciting field have also been presented.     

Viscosity and structure configuration properties of equilibrium and supercooled liquid cobalt

The shear viscosity of liquid cobalt at the pressure p = 1.5 bar and at the temperatures corresponding to equilibrium liquid and supercooled liquid states is measured experimentally and evaluated by means of molecular dynamics simulations. Further, the shear viscosity is also calculated within the microscopic theoretical model. Comparison of our experimental, simulation and theoretical results with other available data allows one to examine the issue about the correct temperature dependence of the shear viscosity of liquid cobalt. A strong correlation between the viscosity and the configuration entropy of liquid cobalt over the considered temperature range is found, which can be taken into account by the Rosenfeld’s model.
