On perturbations of the group of shifts on the line by unitary cocycles

It is shown that the class of perturbations of the semigroup of shifts on by unitary cocycles with the property (where is the Hilbert-Schmidt class) contains strongly continuous semigroups of isometric operators, whose unitary parts possess spectral decompositions with the measure being singular with respect to the Lebesgue measure. Thus, we describe also the subclass of strongly continuous groups of unitary operators that are perturbations of the group of shifts on by Markovian cocycles with the property .

     

Regular Semigroups of Endomorphisms of von Neumann Factors

We study a class of $E_0$ -semigroups of endomorphisms of a von Neumann factor $\mathcal{M}$ possessing the following property: an $e_0$ -semigroup of endomorphisms of $\mathcal{B}\left( \mathcal{H} \right)$ , where $\mathcal{H}$ is the standard representation space for $\mathcal{M}$ , and a product system of Hilbert spaces can be associated with each of these $E_0$ -semigroups.     

An approximate solution to the integral radiative transfer equation in an optically thick slab

We consider the problem of solving the integral form of the radiative transfer equation in an atmosphere with optical thickness τ₀?1. We propose two methods transforming this problem to a finite set of the independent problems of the same type set in an atmosphere with optical thickness much less then τ₀. Effect of preparation procedure on the properties of CeO2

The effect of preparation procedure on the physicochemical and catalytic properties of CeO₂ was studied. Differences in the electronic and structural characteristics of CeO₂ depending on preparation procedure and treatment temperature were found using X-ray diffraction analysis, transmission electron microscopy, UV-visible electronic spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. With the use of the temperature-programmed reaction with CO, it was demonstrated that CeO₂ samples with a high concentration of point defects—oxygen vacancies caused by the presence of Ce³⁺—were characterized by an increased mobility of bulk oxygen. The samples of CeO₂ with a high concentration of structural defects—micropores of size 1–2 nm and stepwise vicinal faces in crystallites—exhibited a high catalytic activity in the reaction of CO oxidation.
