High silica glass doped with Eu2+ ions was prepared as a scintillating material by impregnation of Eu ions into a porous silica glass followed by reduction sintering in CO atmosphere. A dominant emission band of the Eu2+ 5d–4f transition peaking around 430 nm was observed in the luminescence spectrum with the excitation peak around 280 nm and no emission from Eu3+ was present. Photoluminescence decay kinetics was governed by decay times of a few microseconds. The Eu2+‐doped high silica glass exhibited comparable energy resolution and slightly higher photoelectron yield with respect to the Bi4Ge3O12 crystal in the pulse height spectra for X‐ray photon energies within 22–60 keV. The scintillation properties of Lu3Al5O12:Pr3+ (LuAG:Pr) single crystal grown by the Czochralski method with praseodymium concentration of 0.19 mol% were investigated. For a comparison, a good quality Bi4Ge3O12 (BGO) single crystal grown by Bridgman method was also studied. The light yield and energy resolution were measured using photomultiplier tube (XP5200B PMT) readout. Moderate light yield of 15,900 photons per MeV was measured for the LuAG:Pr(0.19%) crystal. For 662 keV gamma rays (137Cs source), an energy resolution of 6.5% obtained for LuAG:Pr(0.19%) is much better than that of 9.0% obtained for BGO. The light yield non-proportionality and energy resolution versus energy of gamma rays were measured and the intrinsic resolution of the crystals was determined after correcting the measured energy resolution for PMT statistics. The LuAG:Pr(0.19%) showed a good proportionality of the light yield within 5% over the energy range from 1274.5 keV down to 32 keV, which is much better than that of 14% for BGO. The photofraction was determined at 320 and 662 keV for both crystals and compared with the ratio of the cross-sections for the photoelectric effect to the total one calculated using WinXCOM program.  相似文献

A fiber-Bragg-grating (FBG) vibration sensor, in which an FBG acts as an intensity-modulator for incident narrow spectrum light such as a laser, is thermally stabilized. Sensitivity of the sensor is kept constant over a wide range of temperature by feeding back a fraction of the output signal into the laser source in such a way that by shifting the oscillation wavelength of the laser the dc component of the detected photocurrent remains unchanged regardless of change in the environmental temperature. Variation in the sensor sensitivity is reduced to as small as 3 dB after the stabilization, although it is more than 55 dB without the stabilization.  相似文献

Lead sodium borate glasses with compositions xPbO:20Na2O:(80−x)B2O3 (where x=5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 55 mol%) have been prepared using melt-quenching method and investigated on their optical, physical, structural and gamma-rays shielding properties. The densities of these glass samples were increased with increase in PbO concentration. The FTIR spectra and molar volumes indicate that PbO acts differently on this glass structures over their compositions. For the PbO composition less than 20 mol%, Pb2+ is incorporated as network former, while it acts as network modifier for the composition from 20-55 mol%. For gamma-ray shielding properties, parameters such as mass attenuation coefficients, effective atomic number and half value layer were increased with increase in PbO concentration. Our results showed relative difference between theory and experiment of less than 1% between experimental and theoretical values. Moreover half value layers of the glass systems have been compared with some standard radiation shielding materials and they exhibited better shielding properties than barite concrete and ferrite concrete at 15 and 25 mol% of PbO, respectively.  相似文献
