Using a variational technique, the effect of electron-longitudinal optical (LO) phonon interaction on the ground and the first few excited states of a hydrogenic impurity in a semiconductor quantum wire of rectangular cross section under an external electric field is studied theoretically for the impurity atom doped at various positions. The results for the binding energy as well as polaronic correction are obtained as a function of the size of the wire, the applied uniform electric field and the position of the impurity. It is found that the presence of optical phonons changes significantly the values of the impurity binding energies of the system. Taking into account the electron–LO phonon interaction the 1s→2py and 1s→2pz transition energies are calculated as a function of applied electric field for different impurity positions.  相似文献

Within the framework of the Li-Low-Pines model the interaction of a Wannier-Mott exciton with polar optical phonons in a cylindrical semiconductor wire is studied, taking into account the phonon confinement effect. An analytical expression for the exciton binding energy with allowance for the polaronic effect is obtained. Numerical calculations of the binding energy are carried out for AlAs/GaAs/AlAs and ZnSe/CdSe/ZnSe wires with a various degree of polarity of quantum wire materials. The polaronic shift of the binding energy of light and heavy hole excitons is calculated.  相似文献

Orthogonal rational functions are characterized in terms of a family of matrix Riemann–Hilbert problems on ?, and a related family of energy minimisation problems is presented. Existence, uniqueness, and regularity properties of the equilibrium measures which solve the energy minimisation problems are established. These measures are used to derive a family of ‘model’ matrix Riemann–Hilbert problems which are amenable to asymptotic analysis via the Deift–Zhou non-linear steepest-descent method.  相似文献

The hydrogenic impurity binding energy in rectangular quantum well wire including both barriers of finite height and an applied electric field are studied. The polaron effects on the ground-state binding energy in electric field are investigated by means of Landau-Pekar variation technique. The results for the binding energy as well as polaronic correction are obtained as a function of the size of the wire, the applied electric field and the position of the impurity. Our calculations are compared with previous results in quantum wires of comparable dimensions.  相似文献

Although nanomaterials facilitate significant technological advancement in our society, their potential impacts on the environment are yet to be fully understood. In this study, two environmentally relevant bacteria, Shewanella oneidensis and Bacillus subtilis, have been used as model organisms to elucidate the molecular interactions between these bacterial classes and Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) with well-controlled and well-characterized surface chemistries: anionic 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA), cationic 3-mercaptopropylamine (MPNH2), and the cationic polyelectrolyte poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH). The data demonstrate that cationic, especially polyelectrolyte-wrapped AuNPs, were more toxic to both the Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The levels of toxicity observed were closely related to the percentage of cells with AuNPs associated with the cell surface as measured in situ using flow cytometry. The NP concentration-dependent binding profiles were drastically different for the two bacteria strains, suggesting the critical role of bacterial cell surface chemistry in determining nanoparticle association, and thereby, biological impact.  相似文献

Tetracycline antibiotics, tetracycline, chlortetracycline, demeclocycline, doxycycline, minocycline, methacycline, oxytetracycline, and anhydrotetracycline, are examined by electrospray ionization in a quadrupole ion trap. Studies were undertaken to evaluate the use of metal complexation as an alternative to conventional proton attachment. A variety of metal cationization processes, including attachment of Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Co2+, Ni2+, and Cu2+ were probed. Infrared multiphoton photodissociation and collisionally activated dissociation (CAD) were compared for generation of diagnostic fragmentation patterns of protonated and metal cationized tetracyclines. The photodissociation spectra provide a more informative signature, including more low mass ions that are not observed upon CAD. The metal complexes dissociate by pathways that are similar to those observed for the protonated molecules.  相似文献
