Abstract— Murine cytomegalovirus, a herpes virus, was used as a model virus to investigate the mechanism of the anti-viral action of phenylheptatriyne in long wave ultraviolet light. The genome and proteins of the inactivated virus penetrated the nuclei of susceptible cells normally. Furthermore, the viral genome did not contain extra single strand breaks or cross-links. However, cells infected with the treated virus did not synthesize late viral proteins, as determined by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. nor did they synthesize late viral RNA and viral DNA according to nucleic acid hybridization tests. Thus the compound may interfere with an early viral function so that the replication cycle cannot proceed. 相似文献

The photoactivated antiviral and cytotoxic activities of the naturally occurring thiophene, alpha-terthienyl (1), and 15 synthetic analogues were evaluated against murine cytomegalovirus and Sindbis virus, and murine mastocytoma cells. After irradiation with near UV light, alpha-terthienyl and most of its analogues had significant toxicity, with minimum inhibitory concentrations in the range of 0.02-40 microM. In the absence of near UV irradiation, only one analogue had antiviral activity and five were cytotoxic. The most active analogues were those containing carboxylic acid, hydroxyl, or cyano substituents. Quantitative structure-activity relationship analysis of thiophene phototoxicity suggested that the rate of singlet oxygen production is the primary determinant of antiviral and cytotoxic activities. For phototoxicity against murine cytomegalovirus, a significant role for hydrophobicity was also demonstrated. Tricyclic thiophenes show significant potential for photochemotherapy of viral infections and cancer, and further evaluation in animal models is recommended. 相似文献

We present a generalized frequency selection method for N-frequency interferometry to form an optimum geometric series at synthetic wavelengths. The absolute range that is measurable is bounded by the number of beat frequency operations, phase noise, and the number of wavelengths used to form the geometric series of synthetic wavelengths. Theoretical predictions are compared with experimental results from a full-field fringe projector. A comparison of this technique with the method of excess fractions shows orders-of-magnitude faster processing with similar measurement reliability. 相似文献

Within the framework of the quark-parton model, the quark and anti-quark structure functions of the proton have been measured by fitting them to the distributions of the events in the Bjorkeny variable. The data used form the largest sample of neutrino and antineutrino interactions on a pure hydrogen target available, and come from exposures of BEBC to the CERN wide band neutrino and antineutrino beams. It is found that the ratiod v /u v of valence quark distributions falls with increasing Bjorkenx. In the context of the quark-parton model the results constrain the isospin composition of the accompanying diquark system. Models involving scattering from diquarks are in disagreement with the data. 相似文献

In this paper, the main objective is to compare the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension for finite-dimensional supersolvable Lie algebras. We characterise the maximal abelian subalgebras of solvable Lie algebras and study solvable Lie algebras containing an abelian subalgebra of codimension 2. Finally, we prove that nilpotent Lie algebras with an abelian subalgebra of codimension 3 contain an abelian ideal with the same dimension, provided that the characteristic of the underlying field is not 2. An optical fibre based, speckle shearing interferometer is described. The instrument uses a highly birefringent optical fibre to illuminate a test object with equal intensities of light guided by the orthogonal polarisation eigenstates of the fibre. A Wollaston prism is used to obtain two sheared images with adjustable shear. Optical phase changes between the sheared images are readily achieved, without mechanical movement of components, by straining the optical fibre. Object strain determination, by fringe analysis with phase stepping techniques, is readily achieved. Vibration analysis by heterodyning is also reported. 相似文献
