Oxidation of Fe2+ ions by transfer of energy from γ-irradiated NaCl in aqueous Fricke solution

The oxidation of iron/II/ ions has been studied by dissolving -irradiated NaCl crystals in aqueous Fricke solution. The yield of iron/III/ ions was determined as a function of the amount of NaCl added, storage time, dose, concentration of iron/II/ ions and pH of the Fricke solution. The energy transfer parameter, , which is the ratio of G/Fe³⁺/ obtained by the addition of irradiated NaCl to that by direct radiolysis was evaluated.

On the attenuation of X-rays and γ-rays for aqueous solutions of salts

Disparities in the linear attenuation coefficients of X-rays and gamma rays for aqueous solutions of soluble salts arising from the nonequality of volume of the solution with the sum of volumes of its components are analysed and the mixture rule is reformulated. The disparities are illustrated for NaCl solution for concentrations c=0 to 1 gm/cm³ which indicates that the mixture rule of Teli et al. works well within generally acceptable limits.     

Four component electromagnetic fields and electrodynamics

Dirac-Maxwell equations with magnetic monopoles are generalized to electromagnetic fields by introducing fourth components to the fields and their solutions are obtained. The formalism is presented into tensor, dyonic as well as quaternionic forms and conservation theorems for the field energy and momenta are obtained involving the new contribution from the mutual interaction of the fields and currents. The generation of the standard modeste, tm andtem ofem waves is also obtained in the formalism.

Catalyst free synthesis of 2-Aryl-2H-benzo[b][1,4]oxazines and 3-Aryl-2H-benzo[b][1,4]thiazin-2-ones: An ultrasonication-assisted strategy

An ultrasonication-assisted synthesis of 2-Aryl-2H-benzo[b][1,4]oxazines and 3-aryl-2H-benzo[b][1,4]thiazin-2-ones has been established by reacting phenacyl bromides with 2-aminophenol and 2-aminothiophenol, respectively. This approach fosters flexibility in generating a diverse range of 1,4-benzoxazines and 1,4-benzothiazinones under catalyst-free reaction conditions. Further scope toward the synthesis of rarely occurring bis-benzoxazine adduct has also been explored, which enabled us to propose the reaction mechanism.
