The study compares the effect of incorporation of three different groups of anti-hyperlipidemic drugs, namely niacin, simvastatin, and fenofibrate on the phase profile of liposomal membranes of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC). The fluorescence anisotropy studies, using 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene as fluorescent probe, have shown that the lipophilic molecule fenofibrate changes phase behavior of DPPC liposomal membrane to a greater extent compared to the changes produced by amphiphilic simvastatin and hydrophilic niacin. This variation in effect can be attributed to the nature of the drug molecules and hence their location in different parts of the liposomal membrane. We have also calculated the changes in van’t Hoff enthalpy values in all these three cases and observed that these values decreased with increase in drug concentrations in the case of simvastatin but for fenofibrate and niacin the effect is completely the reverse. In order to get a better insight, the fraction of motionally restricted lipid molecules has been calculated.  相似文献

Membrane fusion is an important process in a wide range of cellular and sub-cellular activities. It is evident that during the intermediate stages of fusion some transitory non-bilayer configurations must appear within the lipid moiety. Using fluorescence techniques, we have studied here the process of aggregation and fusion of liposomes made of lipids, namely 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) and 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC). When mixed together, the complete fusion between these two liposomes took around 44 h as both DPPC and DMPC favour lamellar configuration. When the mixture was incubated at 42°C the fusion process was completed after 23 h. But, when 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DPPE) was added in the liposomal matrix the time for fusion was reduced to 21 h for mixture without incubation and 17 h when the mixture was incubated. This indicates that DPPE having a tendency to assume non-lamellar conformation, promoted destabilisation of the lamellar conformation within the liposome which facilitated the fusion between two apposing bilayers.  相似文献

Nowadays an increasing application of nanotechnology in different fields has arisen an extensive debate about the effect of the engineered nanoparticles on environment. Phytotoxicity of nanoparticles has come into limelight in the last few years. However, very few studies have been done so far on the beneficial aspects of nanoparticles on plants. In this article, we report the beneficial effect of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) having diameter of ~30 nm on Brassica juncea (mustard) seeds. Measurements of germination rate, T 50 (time taken for 50% germination), shoot and root growth have shown encouraging results using low concentration of oxidized MWCNT (OMWCNT) treated seeds as compared to non-oxidized as well as high concentration OMWCNT treated seeds. For toxicity study we measured the germination index and relative root elongation, while conductivity test and infra-red spectra were also performed to study the overall effect of oxidized and non-oxidized nanotubes on mustard seeds and seedlings.  相似文献

The effect of electric field on the capacitance of lipid-water dispersion properly aligned on polyvinyl alcohol coated glass electrodes, shows a transition pattern where a rapid change in orientation of the organized lipid assembly takes place for an electric field above a threshold value (Vth), similar to that of Freedericksz’s transition as observed in the case of thermotropic liquid crystals. The splay elastic constant, k11 and the bend elastic constant, k33 have been calculated from the measured values of capacitance of the cell below and above Vth. These values change by several orders of magnitude depending upon the presence of water as well as temperature of chain melting of the lipid moiety.  相似文献

Using the fluorescent probe 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene, we have investigated the effect of some statin group of drugs, widely used in hyperlipidemia, on the phase transition of model membranes such as dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) liposomes. The nature of the changes in the fluorescence anisotropy values suggested that the drugs simvastatin and mevastatin fluidized the membrane both before and after the phase transition temperature (T m), whereas atorvastatin fluidized the membrane below T m but rigidified the same above T m, i.e., introduced an intermediate fluid condition within the lipid matrix. We have calculated the changes in van’t Hoff enthalpy values associated with the phase transitions due to chain melting in all the cases, and observed that the values of enthalpy decreased with increase in drug concentrations. In order to get a better insight, the fraction of motionally restricted lipid molecules was determined.  相似文献

Biscitraconimides incorporated with 3,3′,4,4′-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) and pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) were synthesised. Their curing behavior as well as thermal stabilities were investigated. The intermediate amic acids were prepared by the reaction of 4-amino 4′-citraconamic acid diphenyl sulphone, 4-amino 4′-citraconamic acid diphenyl ether, and 12-amino 1-citraconamic acid dodecane with BTDA and PMDA, respectively. Six amic acids formed were then imidized by cyclocondensation with acetic anhydride. The imide monomers were obtained and these were cured at 225–240°C. The thermal stabilities of the polymers so formed were investigated and compared. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

制备了五配位单核钴配合物[Co(TMC)Cl]ClO41,TMC=1,4,7,10-tetramethyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane)。配合物1结晶于单斜晶系:P21,晶胞参数为a=0.805 95(7)nm,b=1.486 58(12)nm,c=0.813 64(7)nm,β=110.190(2)°,V=0.914 93(13)nm3,Z=2,T=120(2)K。钴与来自TMC配体的4个氮原子和1个氯离子配位,形成了扭曲的四方锥配位构型。磁性测试揭示了高自旋的钴离子具有场诱导的慢弛豫行为。  相似文献
