This paper examines the non-linear dynamic behaviour of a flexible shaft. The shaft is mounted on two journal bearings and the axial load is supported by a defective hydrodynamic thrust bearing at one end. The defect is a levelness defect of the rotor. The thrust bearing behaviour must be considered to be non-linear because of the effects of the defect. The shaft is modelled with typical beam finite elements including effects such as the gyroscopic effects. A modal technique is used to reduce the number of degrees of freedom. Results show that the thrust bearing defects introduce supplementary critical speeds. The linear approach is unable to show the supplementary critical speeds which are obtained only by using non-linear analysis.  相似文献

 To describe the flows of fluids over a wide range of pressures, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the viscosity of the fluid depends on the pressure. That the viscosity depends on the pressure has been verified by numerous careful experiments. While the existence of solutions local-in-time to the equations governing the flows of such fluids are available for small, special data and rather unrealistic dependence of the viscosity on the pressure, no global existence results are in place. Our interest here is to establish the existence of weak solutions for spatially periodic three-dimensional flows that are global in time, for a large class of physically meaningful viscosity-pressure relationships. This investigation was undertaken to study the similitude of models for reinforced concrete beams by photoelasticity. All previous attempts of model analysis have not maintained the correct modular ratio of reinforcing rod to the beam material. The material problem of obtaining the necessary rods was solved. The material exploratory investigation revealed suitable reinforcing plastics that have opened a wide range of model analyses for reinforced concrete. The models fabricated provided a study in correlation of models and prototype. A sample of the stresses obtained with a photoelastic interferometer is given to demonstrate the practical application of the model analysis.  相似文献

We show that, given any connected, compact space ${Z \subset \mathbb{R}^n}$ , there exists a group G acting geometrically on two CAT(0) spaces X and Y, a G-equivariant quasi-isometry ${f\colon X\rightarrow Y}$ , and a geodesic ray c in X such that the closure of f (c), intersected with ${\partial Y}$ , is homeomorphic to Z. This characterizes all homeomorphism types of ??geodesic boundary images?? that arise in this manner.  相似文献

Attempted synthesis of 1,8-dicyclooctatetraenylnaphthalene (1) by the palladium(0)-catalyzed coupling of 1,8-dibromonaphthalene with cyclooctatetraenyltrimethylstannane afforded a single unsymmetrical isomer of 1 in 88% yield. Two-dimensional NMR methods and spectral synthesis were employed to assign the structure of the isomer (2). AM1 geometry-optimized structures of 2 and its isomers showed that the unexpected unsymmetrical structure of 2 results from the minimization of repulsive inter-ring H-H interactions. Compound 2 is postulated to arise via tandem [2 + 2] cycloaddition and 6 pi --> 4 pi + 2 sigma electrocyclization reactions of 1.  相似文献
