It is shown that the small-scale Rossby waves in a shallow rotating fluid placed in a gravitational field can generate large-scale
zonal flows by means of a two-stream-like mechanism. This mechanism is revealed under the conditions when the Lighthill instability
criterion is not satisfied.

A model with one compact extra dimension and a scalar field of Brans–Dicke type in the bulk is discussed. It describes two branes with non-zero tension embedded into the space-time with flat background. This setup allows one to use a very simple method for stabilization of the size of extra dimension. An additive scheme with 11 constants is derived from the coefficients of characteristic polynomials (CCPs) of adjacency matrix A of irregular molecular graphs (IMG) for molecules that contain a bivalent heteroatom -SH or -OH at the beginning of the chain. The structural significance of the CCPs to adjacency matrix A′ is established. A 16-constant additive scheme was derived for calculating the physicochemical properties of saturated monoalcohols CH4O-C9H20O and decomposing the triangular numbers of the Pascal triangle based on the similarity of subgraphs in the molecular graphs
(MGs) of the homologous series of these alcohols. It was shown, using this scheme for calculation of properties of saturated
monoalcohols as an example, that each coefficient of the scheme (in other words, the number of methods to impose a chain of

was found within the adopted classification of structural elements. Sixteen parameters of the schemes were recorded as linear

The Winer and Schultz three-dimensional topological indices of alkanes are considered and compared with ordinary two-dimensional
indices. Methods of index design and details of calculations are discussed. Unlike two-dimensional indices, three-dimensional
ones adequately reflect differences between both structural and rotational isomers. Regression analysis of property-index
correlations for formation enthalpy, molar volume, evaporation heat, and boiling temperature is performed using various two-
and three-parameter (linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, and power) functions. The ability of three-dimensional indices
to correlate with these properties is found to be as good as that of two-dimensional ones.
