Generation of angular momentum of fission fragments in a cluster model

Based on the dinuclear system concept, the role of bending vibrations in creation of the angular momentum of primary fission fragments is investigated. For ²⁵²Cf spontaneous fission, the angular momenta of the fragments are calculated as a function of the neutron multiplicity and compared with available experimental data. Different cluster compositions of the ²⁵²Cf fission modes at the scission point are considered.

Description of Stabilization of Octupole Deformation in Alternating-Parity Bands of Heavy Nuclei

The angular-momentum dependences are analyzed for parity splitting and electric dipole transitions in alternating-parity bands of heavy nuclei. It is shown that these dependences can be treated universally by employing a single parameter taken to be a critical angular momentum that characterizes the phase transition from octupole vibrations to a stable octupole deformation. Analytic expressions for parity splitting and the electric dipole transitional moment are obtained on the basis of a simple model. The results are compared with experimental data for various barium, cerium, and neodymium isotopes.     

Description of alternating-parity bands within the dinuclear-system model

A cluster approach is used to describe ground-state-based alternating-parity bands in even–even nuclei and to study the band-termination mechanism. A method is proposed for testing the cluster nature of alternating-parity bands.     

On the critical cluster in the two-dimensional Ising model: computer-assisted exact results

For a nearest-neighbor Ising model on a square lattice all cluster configurations with 17 or fewer spins are identified. In neglect of cluster-cluster interactions, critical sizes and barriers to nucleation are obtained as functions of temperature and magnetic field for two alternative definitions of a "critical cluster."     

Nuclear structure in the dinuclear model with rotating clusters

The dinuclear-system model can be applied to nuclear structure. Here, we study deformed clusters which rotate with respect to the internuclear distance and exchange nucleons. The model can be used to explain the band structure of nuclear spectra, especially the parity splitting observed in actinides, e.g., in ²³⁸U. The text was submitted by the authors in English.     

Collapse of transient nucleation fluxes in a cold Ising ferromagnet

We report the time-dependent nucleation fluxes and associated nucleation rates in a metastable Ising ferromagnet on square lattice with Metropolis (Glauber-type) dynamics. It is discovered that, with lowering of the temperature, fluxes collapse into several representative transient curves corresponding to magic cluster sizes. Those can be associated with physical droplets, i.e., long-lived configurations which provide a link with the classical Becker-D?ring picture.
