In this article we compare the classical monopole mass filter of von Zahn and the monopole mass filter with a hyperbolic V-shaped electrode. The experimental results and those of computer simulation for both mass spectrometers are presented. We show that the replacement of a conventional 90 degrees V-shaped electrode by an electrode with a hyperbolic profile substantially improves the peak shape of any given mass, and increases the mass resolution by a factor of 3-4 and the abundance sensitivity by a factor of 100. The potential of high analytical performance combined with electroforming techniques for electrode manufacture indicate future practical uses of such instruments. The discovery of neutron rich isotopes of the lightest elements on the neutron drip line exhibiting a halo structure has opened up new vistas in research activities. The novel structural features associated with the halo phenomena have been the subject for extensive theoretical and experimental investigations in recent times. In this talk, I propose to present a broad overview of the recent developments in this field, bringing out the striking features which show that a large number oflight nuclei near the neutron drip line are characterized by a clear separation between a ‘normal’ core nucleus and a loosely bound low density veil of neutrons. Specifically, the two neutron halos offer a natural premises, from a theoretical standpoint, to employ three body techniques for studying their detailed structural properties. A considerable part of the talk will be devoted to report and highlight the results on a number of light halo nuclei such as 11Li, 11Be, 19B and 22C on which we have been carrying out investigations employing a simple but realistic three body model. These three body systems which have been termed as ‘Borromean’ (i.e while three body systems are bound, the corresponding binary subsystems on the other hand are unbound) are characterized by large spacial extension and very low separation energy of the neutron. They are, therefore, ideally suited for exploring the possibility of the existence of Efimov states in two neutron halo nuclei. We have recently carried out the three body analyses to predict the possibility of the occurrence of such states on which experimental work at various laboratories is underway.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate highly efficient multiplex frequency conversion of unamplified subnanojoule femtosecond pulses of Ti:sapphire laser radiation in fused silica microstructure fibers. Nonlinear optical spectral transformation of femtosecond pulses in an array of fused silica threadlike channels in these microstructure fibers results in the generation of isolated anti-Stokes spectral components within the wavelength range of 400–500 nm. An efficiency of frequency conversion of about 20% is achieved for 800-nm pump pulses with an energy of 0.7 nJ and a pulse duration of 70 fs.  相似文献

A series of anthraquinone (C(14)O(2)H(8)) derivatives has been studied by means of electron capture negative ion mass spectrometry (ECNI-MS), photoelectron spectroscopy (PES), and AM1 quantum chemical calculations. Mean lifetimes of molecular negative ions M(-.) (MNI) have been measured. The mechanism of long-lived MNI formation in the epithermal energy region of incident electrons has been investigated. A simple model of a molecule (a spherical potential well with the repulsive centrifugal term) has been applied for the analysis of the energy dependence of cross sections at the first stage of the electron capture process. It has been shown that a temporary resonance of MNI at the energy approximately 0.5 eV corresponds to a shape resonance with lifetime 1-2.10(-13) s in the f-partial wave (l = 3) of the incident electron. The next resonant state of MNI at the energy approximately 1.7 eV has been associated with the electron excited Feshbach resonance (whose parent state is a triplet npi* transition). In all cases the initial electron state of the MNI relaxes into the ground state by means of a radiationless transition, and the final state of the MNI is a nuclear excited resonance with a lifetime measurable on the mass spectrometry timescale. Evolution of the long-wavelength edge of supercontinuum (SC) in a large mode-area photonic crystal fiber (LMA PCF) under extreme (close to the fiber damage threshold) picosecond excitation is analyzed for the first time to our knowledge. The obtained results are interpreted on the basis of the numerical simulations explaining both spectral and temporal characteristics of SC in dependence on the pulse power and the fiber length. An existence of the minimum LMA PCF length providing the broadest spectrum under the highest picosecond excitations is predicted. The multimode cross-modulation inside the LMA PCF is analyzed, as well.   相似文献

We study soliton phenomena accompanying the propagation of femtosecond Cr: forsterite-laser pulses through a microstructure fiber in the regime of efficient anti-Stokes frequency conversion. The dispersion of the fiber is designed in such a way as to minimize the group delay of the 1.25-m pump and the Stokes pulse within the length of soliton pulse compression in the regime of anomalous dispersion. Spectrally and temporally isolated solitonic features, resulting from soliton self-frequency shift, are detected at the output of such a microstructure fiber by means of cross-correlation frequency-resolved optical gating. The mode structure and spectral properties of supercontinuum emission generated by femtosecond pulses of Ti: sapphire laser radiation in microstructure fibers are studied. The long-wavelength (720–900 nm) and visible (400–600 nm) parts of supercontinuum emission are shown to be spatially separated in microstructure-fiber modes, which can be isolated with an appropriate spectral filtering. The spatial modes thus isolated in spectrally sliced supercontinuum emission possess a spatial quality sufficient for further efficient frequency conversion. The possibility of achieving a high spectral quality of supercontinuum emission is also demonstrated. We explore the ways to control the spectrum of supercontinuum emission by matching parameters of the pump pulse with the parameters of a microstructure fiber and by tuning the initial chirp of the pump pulse. The results of our studies show that supercontinua produced in microstructure fibers offer new approaches to designing a new generation of optical parametric amplifiers and broadband radiation sources for spectroscopic, metrological, and biomedical applications.  相似文献

A bilinear time series (BLTS) model is expressed in the form of Akaike's Markovian representation in order to use the Kalman recursive estimation approach. It is shown that Akaike's Markovian representation of autoregressive moving average models of orderp and q (ARMA(p,q)) and that of the bilinear model are equivalent. This equivalence facilitates the maximum likelihood estimation of the parameters involved in the bilinear model, which otherwise is an unwieldy problem. A sensitive and reliable high‐performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) was developed and validated for simultaneous quantification IC87114, roflumilast (RFM), and its active metabolite roflumilast N‐oxide (RFN) using tolbutamide as an internal standard. The analytes were extracted by using liquid–liquid extraction and separated on a reverse phase C18 column (50 mm × 3 mm i.d., 4.6 µ) using methanol: 2 mM ammonium acetate buffer, pH 4.0 as mobile phase at a flow rate 1 mL/min in gradient mode. Selective reaction monitoring was performed using the transitions m/z 398.3 > 145.9, 403.1 >186.9, 419.1 > 187.0 and 271.1 > 155.0 to quantify quantification IC87114, RFM, RFN and tolbutamide, respectively. The method was validated over the concentration range of 0.1–60 ng.mL?1 for RFM and RFN and 6 to 2980 ng.mL?1 for IC87114. Intra‐ and inter‐day accuracy and precision of validated method were within the acceptable limits of <15% at all concentrations. Coefficients of correlation (r2) for the calibration curves were >0.99 for all analytes. The quantitation method was successfully applied for simultaneous estimation of IC87114, RFM and RFN in a pharmacokinetic drug–drug interaction study in Wistar rats.
