Recoil-proton polarization in high-energy deuteron photodisintegration with circularly polarized photons

We measured the angular dependence of the three recoil-proton polarization components in two-body photodisintegration of the deuteron at a photon energy of 2 GeV. These new data provide a benchmark for calculations based on quantum chromodynamics. Two of the five existing models have made predictions of polarization observables. Both explain the longitudinal polarization transfer satisfactorily. Transverse polarizations are not well described, but suggest isovector dominance.     

The JLab polarization transfer measurements of proton elastic form factor

The ratio of the electric and magnetic proton form factors,G _Ep G _Mp , has been obtained in two Hall A experiments, from measurements of the longitudinal and transverse polarizations of the recoil proton,P _l andP _t , in the elastic scattering of polarized electrons, . Together these experiments cover theQ ² range of 0.5 to 5.6 GeV². A new experiment is currently being prepared, to extend theQ ² range to 9 GeV² in Hall C.     

Investigation of proton-proton short-range correlations via the 12C(e,e'pp) reaction

We investigated simultaneously the 12C(e,e'p) and 12C(e,e'pp) reactions at Q2=2 (GeV/c)2, xB=1.2, and in an (e, e'p) missing-momentum range from 300 to 600 MeV/c. At these kinematics, with a missing momentum greater than the Fermi momentum of nucleons in a nucleus and far from the delta excitation, short-range nucleon-nucleon correlations are predicted to dominate the reaction. For (9.5+/-2)% of the 12C(e,e'p) events, a recoiling partner proton was observed back-to-back to the 12C(e,e'p) missing-momentum vector, an experimental signature of correlations.

Greener route for microwave enhanced syntheses of bioactive 1,5-benzodiazepines using heterogeneous calcium ferrite/graphene oxide nanocomposite as a novel and sustainable catalyst

In the present paper, a novel and benign protocol for microwave enhanced one pot syntheses of 2,3-dihydro-1,5 benzodiazepine derivatives from substituted acetophenones, aryl-aldehydes and o-phenylene diamine using heterogeneous calcium ferrite/graphene oxide (CF/GO) nanocomposite has been reported. The catalyst was prepared by ultrasonication method and characterized by spectral and analytical techniques. The CF/GO nanocomposite was employed for environmentally benign synthesis of 2,3-dihydro-1,5 benzodiazepines. The synthesized benzodiazepine derivatives were screened for their antimicrobial activities against various bacteria and fungi. The present synthetic strategy offered several advantages such as excellent yields in short span of time, simple modus operandi, ease of isolation and purification of products, simple recovery and reusability of the catalyst. A tentative mechanism for synthesis of 2,3-dihydro-1,5 benzodiazepine using CF/GO nanocatalyst has also been proposed.

New measurements of high-momentum nucleons and short-range structures in nuclei

We present new measurements of electron scattering from high-momentum nucleons in nuclei. These data allow an improved determination of the strength of two-nucleon correlations for several nuclei, including light nuclei where clustering effects can, for the first time, be examined. The data also include the kinematic region where three-nucleon correlations are expected to dominate.
