Rotational-vibrational polarizability operator for nonlinear X<Subscript>2</Subscript>Y molecules: Application to the calculation of the Raman spectrum of the H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O molecule

For nonlinear X₂Y molecules, an expression for the transformed polarizability operator is obtained with an accuracy of up to the second order of the theory of perturbation. This operator is applied to the calculation of the intensities of Raman lines of the H₂O molecule. The corrections to the polarizability of the molecule associated with the vibrational-rotational interaction are shown to considerably change the integral intensity of a pure rotational band. The dependence of the average polarizability of the molecule on the vibrational quantum number V ₂, describing deformation vibrations, is estimated.     

Calculation of the Combination Scattering Spectrum of the H2O Molecule Based on the Effective Polarizability Operator

This paper presents a procedure for calculation of the combination scattering spectrum of a nonlinear molecule of the X₂Y type which is based on a transformed polarizability operator taking into account the vibration-rotation interaction in the molecule to within the second order of the perturbation theory. The matrix elements of the operator are determined and classified by molecule symmetry type. The combination scattering spectrum of the H₂O molecule is calculated in the region of the 2v ₂ band. The second derivative of the average polarizability of the H₂O molecule with respect to the normal coordinate q ₂, associated with deformation vibrations, and the vibrational dependence of the average polarizability of the H₂O molecule on the deformation quantum number v ₂ are estimated.     

On the feasibility of a plasma-chemical reactor for hydrogen production

It is proposed that a high-frequency discharge in humid air be used as a model of a plasma-chemical reactor for hydrogen production.

Based on photographs of rf discharge glows, it is concluded that the shape of the glowing object depends on the moisture content in it.     

Change of integration variables in calculations of the coefficients of broadening and shift of spectral lines of molecules by the Robert-Bonamy method

The transformation of the integration domain upon passage from the variables impact distance-initial relative velocity to the variables closest approach distance-initial relative velocity in the Robert-Bonamy method for an arbitrary isotropic potential is considered. As an example, the result obtained is applied to the Lennard-Jones potential.     

Prospects of the combined use of laser and microwave radiation for increasing the efficiency of interaction with metal targets

It is proposed to use centimeter microwaves to enhance the interaction of laser radiation with metal targets.     

Shift Coefficients and Self-Pressure Broadening of H2 16O Lines in the Range 1950–2750 cm−1

Experimental values of the shift coefficient and self-pressure broadening by the own pressure have been determined for some spectral lines of water vapor in the range 1950–2750 cm^–1. A comparison with the calculated data obtained on the basis of the Robert–Bonamy method has been performed. A satisfactory agreement between the theory and experiment has been obtained.
