Measurement of the polarization bremsstrahlung of relativistic electrons in polycrystalline targets

The spectra of the collimated polarization bremsstrahlung of 7-MeV electrons intersecting Al, Cu, and Ni polycrystalline films have been measured. Detailed quantitative comparison of the experimental data with theoretical predictions has been performed. It has been shown that the model of a polycrystal as an ensemble of randomly oriented single crystals adequately describes the experimental results. This makes it possible to expect the development of a new method of diagnostics of the atomic structure of partially ordered solids.     

Selective-resputtering-induced perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in amorphous TbFe films

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy energy in rf magnetron sputtered amorphous TbFe films is measured to increase exponentially with pair-order anisotropy induced by the selective resputtering of surface adatoms during film growth.     

Stability of combustion of powder in a phenomenological model with nonadiabatic flame

A stability criterion for combustion of powder is obtained, taking into account the effect of the processes in the gas phase. It is shown that consideration of the effects of a nonadiabatic flame leads to the stability reserve of combustion being reduced and the natural frequency of vibrations being lowered. Oscillations of the charge in oxide at silicon surface as an origin of the process leading to the long-range effect

A model of the excitation of the periodical stress pulses in the silicon-oxide system leading to generation of moving discrete breathers (local nonlinear wave disturbances of the atomic system) has been suggested. The latter can provide transportation of energy through the bulk of a sample at the external effect on its surface (the long-range effect). Several scenarios of evolving alternating electrical fields in oxide resulting (due to its local piezoelectricity) in corresponding changes of stresses have been considered.     

Investigation of the long-range effect of light irradiation by means of Rutherford backscattering/ion channeling spectroscopy

This paper presents the results of the first experiments on the observation of the long-range effect by means of Rutherford backscattering/ion channeling spectroscopy under irradiation of a silicon crystal by visible light.     

Solubilization of prothionamide with micelles of an amphiphilic acrylic acid oligomer with thiohexyl terminal groups and preparation of postoperative cavity filling formulations

An amphiphilic oligomer was prepared by telomerization of acrylic acid in the presence of n-hexyl mercaptan. The structure, molecular weight, critical micelle concentration, and ζ-potential of the oligomer, and also its particle-size distribution in aqueous solution were determined. The product allows solubilization of prothiondamide antituberculosis drug. A procedure was suggested for preparing a filling formulation containing prothionamide for filling postoperative cavities in connective tissue.     

Theory of nonsteady propellant combustion. Combustion in the presence of harmonically varying pressure

It is shown that in order to construct a theory of nonsteady propellant combustion it is necessary to know the steady-state dependences of the burning rate u₀ °, surface temperature T_s °, and flame temperature T_F ° on the external parameters and the initial temperature of the propellant. Helical flows with multiple circulation in channels of simple shape

A general solution is obtained for the problem of the helical motion of an incompressible liquid along a channel with a cross section in the shape of an annular sector or a triangle. The possible use of the solutions so obtained in order to describe secondary flows with repeated circulation in channels of simple shape (ring, circle, square, rhomb, rectangle, equilateral triangle) is demonstrated. The theory is in agreement with experiment. In one particular setting, problems as to the helical motion of an ideal incompressible liquid in channels of simple configuration were solved in [1, 2]. In this paper flows of a more general form with repeated circulation are considered, several vortices occurring inside the tube cross section.Deceased.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR. Effect of shell structure on transversal heating and cooling of channeled ions

It is shown that an abrupt change in ionization potential at the transition from one shell to the next one can result in a repeated transition from the heating of channeled ion beam to the cooling and vice versa with an increase in ion velocity.     

Drift model of ion beam guiding using capillaries

It is shown that the major role during capillary charging and discharging is played by the charge drift, rather than diffusion. The charge mobility on the capillary surface in a polyethylene terephthalate film is determined.
