We study superconducting systems in the regime where superconductivity is destroyed by phase fluctuations. We find that the Nernst effect has a much sharper temperature decay than predicted by Gaussian fluctuations, with an onset temperature that tracks Tc rather than the pairing temperature. We find a close quantitative connection with diamagnetism--the ratio of magnetization to transverse thermoelectric conductivity reaches a fixed value at high temperatures. We interpret measurements on underdoped cuprates in terms of a dilute vortex liquid over a wide temperature range above Tc. 相似文献

Motivated by recent experiments with Bechgaard salts, we investigate the competition between antiferromagnetism and triplet superconductivity in quasi-one-dimensional electron systems. We unify the two orders in an SO(4) symmetric framework, demonstrating the existence of such symmetry in one-dimensional Luttinger liquids. SO(4) symmetry strongly constrains the phase diagram, leading to coexistence regions of antiferromagnetic, superconducting, and normal phases, as observed in (TMTSF)(2)PF(6). We predict a sharp neutron scattering resonance in superconducting samples. 相似文献

We consider the structure of the cosmological singularity in Veneziano’s inflationary model. The problem of choosing initial data in the model is shown to be unsolved—the spacetime in the asymptotically flat limit can be filled with an arbitrary number of gravitational and scalar field quanta. As a result, the universe acquires a domain structure near the singularity, with an anisotropic expansion of its own realized in each domain. 相似文献

Abstract The structure, phase composition, and temperature behavior of two trans-1,4-polybutadienes (TPBs) were studied by means of x-ray scattering and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques. The two samples examined were (1) PB synthesized using an immobilized titanium-magnesium catalyst and (2) a random copolymer based on PB prepared with a homogeneous vanadium-containing catalyst used as a reference material. It was found that the nascent structure of the first PB involves three phases: crystalline, mesomorphic (low-temperature form), and amorphous. In the vicinity of 65°C, a first-order phase transition occurs. The system becomes biphasic and contains the high-temperature form of the mesophase, as well as the amorphous phase, component. Above 165°C, the polymer melts to form a single-phase isotropic melt with a structure typical of liquids. The lateral dimension of crystallites reversibly changes at the crystal-mesophase transition. It is suggested that during annealing of the mesophase formed by cooling of the isotropic melt, the chains acquire an extended conformation. Loss of regularity of the structure of macromolecules of TPB causes a reduction of phase transition temperatures, an increase of the imperfection of the crystalline phase, and a contraction of the temperature range of existence of the mesophase. 相似文献

Boundary driven diffusive systems describe a broad range of transport phenomena. We study large deviations of the density profile in these systems, using numerical and analytical methods. We find that the large deviation may be non-differentiable, a phenomenon that is unique to non-equilibrium systems, and discuss the types of models which display such singularities. The structure of these singularities is found to generically be a cusp, which can be described by a Landau free energy or, equivalently, by catastrophe theory. Connections with analogous results in systems with finite-dimensional phase spaces are drawn. 相似文献

We address the homogenization of a variational inequality posed in perforated media issue from a unilateral problem for the p-Laplacian. We consider the n-Laplace operator in a perforated domain of ?n, n ≥ 3, with restrictions for the solution and its flux (the flux associated with the n-Laplacian) on the boundary of the perforations which are assumed to be isoperimetric. The solution is assumed to be positive on the boundary of the holes and the flux is bounded from above by a negative, nonlinear monotone function multiplied by a large parameter. A certain non periodical distribution of the perforations is allowed while the assumption that their size is much smaller than the periodicity scale is performed. We make it clear that in the average constants of the problem, the perimeter of the perforations appears for any shape. 相似文献

A new mechanism of anionic polymerization of butadiene is proposed. In the elementary chemical act, the “living” polymer–monomer complex is excited into the low‐lying triplet state. This state has the character of charge (electron) and cation (Li+ or Na+) transfer from the terminal unit of the active center to the monomer molecule. In the framework of this concept, the probability of chemical bond formation is determined by spin density on radical centers of reagent molecules. Semiempirical and ab initio 6‐31G** quantum‐chemical calculations showed stable interaction between components of the complex in the ground electronic state (9–11 kcal/mol) and low energy levels of triplet excited states (<14 kcal/mol). This new approach is shown to be useful in the analysis of polymerization kinetics and the microstructure of polybutadiene depending on the cation type and the ion pair state. The mechanism of cis‐trans isomerization in the terminal unit of the living polymer consists in concerted rotation about the Cβ? The process of quasistatic displacement of domain walls is
considered in a nanowire represented as a one-dimensional chain of
ferromagnet crystallites. The domain wall pinning due to spatial
fluctuations of the anisotropy axes is analyzed. Based on the theory
of overshoots of random processes, we have calculated the
distribution functions of the initial susceptibility and of the
maximal force of interaction of the domain wall with inhomogeneities.
These functions are found to be non-Gaussian. We have derived
expressions for the magnetization curve and the coercive force, which

This study presents a new method for the reconstruction of the direction of γ quanta registered by a CsI calorimeter in the
E391 experiment. A neural network in the form of a generalized basis function is used as the mathematical tool for reconstruction.
The effective mass of the registered π0 mesons and z coordinate of the decay vertex was first reconstructed in E391 using the measured direction of the registered γ quanta. The
reconstruction of these quantities increases the sensitivity of the E391 experiment by at least 35%. 相似文献
