A microwave interferometry technique is applied for the first time for detecting a discrete spectrum of Alfvén cascade (AC) eigenmodes excited with fast ions in reversed magnetic shear plasmas of the Joint European Torus. The interferometry measurements of plasma density perturbations associated with ACs show an unprecedented frequency and time resolution superior to that obtained with external magnetic coils. The measurements of ACs are used for monitoring the evolution of the safety factor and density of rational magnetic surfaces in the region of maximum plasma current.  相似文献

In many generic combustion models, one finds that a combustionwave will develop with a specific wave speed. However, thereare possible initial temperature profiles which do not evolveinto such waves, but rather die out to the ambient temperature.There can exist, in some models, a clear distinction betweenthose initial conditions that do evolve into combustion wavesand those that do not; this is sometimes referred to as thewatershed initial condition. When fuel consumption is consideredto be negligible, analytical methods can be used to obtain theexact watershed. In this paper, we consider the problem of determiningpseudo-watersheds and ascertaining the relationship betweenthese pseudo-watersheds and the exact watersheds. The first electron temperature modulation experiments in plasmas characterized by strong and long-lasting electron and ion internal transport barriers (ITB) have been performed in JET using ion cyclotron resonance heating in mode conversion scheme. The ITB is shown to be a well localized narrow layer with low heat diffusivity, characterized by subcritical transport and loss of stiffness. In addition, results from cold pulse propagation experiments suggest a second order transition process for ITB formation.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a critical study of a multi-quantum barrier (MQB) structure fabricated using the Al0.5In0.5P/Ga0.5In0.5P material system. The structure was optimised theoretically based on a single Γ band model. When an identical structure was placed in a quantum well laser device, no improvement in the threshold current was observed compared to QW laser structure without an MQB. Cross-sectional scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) was used to assess the structural quality of the MQB structure for the first time. Factors affecting the limited barrier enhancement are discussed in terms of the interfacial quality of the Al0.5In0.5P/Ga0.5In0.5P interface in the superlattice of the MQB and the need to consider multi-valley transport. The paper highlights some of the fundamental problems that must be overcome for MQBs to be a viable method to improve red laser efficiency.  相似文献

Chemically activated reactions are important in describing the composition of reactive gases including flames, planetary atmospheres, and the interstellar medium (ISM). In a chemically activated reaction, two reactants combine to populate a vibrationally excited well that can undergo unimolecular transformations (isomerization, dissociation) or be thermalized through collisions with the bath gas. Once a well has been thermalized, it may still have sufficient energy to undergo further unimolecular reaction, in a purely thermal process. If the timescale for the thermally activated process is sufficiently short, such that it approaches that of the chemically activated reaction, the two concurrent processes become inseparable and the value of the phenomenological rate coefficient is no longer obvious. Here, we introduce the thermal decay (TD) procedure to determine phenomenological rate coefficients for chemically activated reactions proceeding on timescales approaching those of thermal reaction, principally for use in stochastic master equation simulations of multiple‐well multiple‐channel unimolecular reaction processes. By fitting the thermal decay of the initially activated well to a first‐order kinetic model, the would‐be thermal yield can be eliminated so as to arrive at the chemically activated component in a reliable and objective fashion. This technique is demonstrated here for the reaction of 1,3,6‐heptatriyne with H using the MultiWell code and a 16‐well 33‐channel C7H5 reaction model. A computer program implementing the TD method and for postprocessing of MultiWell output data, PPM, is provided.  相似文献

Type-I edge-localized modes (ELMs) have been mitigated at the JET tokamak using a static external n=1 perturbation field generated by four error field correction coils located far from the plasma. During the application of the n=1 field the ELM frequency increased by a factor of 4 and the amplitude of the D(alpha) signal decreased. The energy loss per ELM normalized to the total stored energy, DeltaW/W, dropped to values below 2%. Transport analyses shows no or only a moderate (up to 20%) degradation of energy confinement time during the ELM mitigation phase.  相似文献

The onset of a neoclassical tearing mode (NTM) depends on the existence of a large enough seed island. It is shown in the Joint European Torus that NTMs can be readily destabilized by long-period sawteeth, such as obtained by sawtooth stabilization from ion-cyclotron heating or current drive. This has important implications for burning plasma scenarios, as alpha particles strongly stabilize the sawteeth. It is also shown that, by adding heating and current drive just outside the inversion radius, sawteeth are destabilized, resulting in shorter sawtooth periods and larger beta values being obtained without NTMs.  相似文献

Information is presented on the half-wave potentials, reversibilities, wave shapes, and probable electrode reaction products for the polarographic waves of most of the common heavy metal ions in 0.1 F ammonium citrate at pH 6 and in 0.1 F ammonium citrate, malonate, oxalate, and tartrate containing 0.1 F ammonia.  相似文献
