The dependences of the second harmonic (SH) intensity output by the dispersion interferometer (DI) upon the relative phase of the SH and fundamental waves θ0 (called phase characteristics) are studied both experimentally and theoretically. It has been found that high irradiance (when self-action effects are not negligible) makes the phase characteristics differ from the cosine type which is usual for linear interferometry. In the case of high power pulsed radiation, a strong dependence of the SH pulse shape on θ0 was observed. The evolution of the SH pulse shape in the DI output registered as θ0 varies is checked against the numeric simulation data. By measuring the nonlinear phase characteristics of the DI, the main influence of the slow (response time of ≈ 1 ns) cubic nonlinearity on the frequency doubling of nanosecond pulses is determined for the employed KTP crystals.  相似文献

The scattering of plane evanescent waves by a cylinder is studied. The Green function for the Helmholtz equation for two dielectrics with flat interface is found and applied for the numerical calculation of the scattered field by the boundary elements method. The Green function keeps close track of scattering, including multiple reflections. The result may be applicable for the data analysis in near-field optical microscopy.  相似文献

We consider the problem of heat transfer from a slightly heated sphere in a resting rarefied gas. We assume that the Krook equation is valid in this case. Two forms of the basic equations are presented, and relations are given which are obtained as a result of calculations of the heat flux and the temperature jump at the sphere surface as a function of a parameter which is inversely proportional to the Knudsen number. The results obtained are compared with results given by the known approximate theories.In conclusion the author wishes to thank M. N. The flow in channels of the labyrinth seal type with one or two throttling stages is calculated on the interval of Reynolds numbers Re from 1.9·104 to 4.5·105. The nonsteady flow structure and the distribution and fluctuations of the pressure on the body of the labyrinth are investigated. The gravity field and vibration effect on the flow of a viscoplastic fluid layer along an inclined solid surface is investigated. The rheological properties of the fluid are described using the Williamson equation. The vibrations are shown to have a considerable effect on the fluid layer flow intensity and direction; in particular, they generate a considerable mean fluid flow even in the cases in which the fluid is at rest in the absence of the vibrations.  相似文献

A theoretical and experimental study is made into the combined manifestation of local and nonlocal optical responses in a cubic nonlinear isotropic medium such as an aggregated colloidal silver solution. The phenomenological treatment of polarization effects is performed for the general case with due regard for the frequency dispersion of both local and nonlocal nonlinearities and for the noncollinear propagation of pump and probe light waves. The inverse Faraday effect, the optical Kerr effect, and the self-rotation of the polarization ellipse in a fractal-disordered nonlinear medium are observed for the first time. The tensor components of the local and nonlocal cubic nonlinearities of colloidal silver solutions are measured for different degrees of aggregation. It is demonstrated that, as the size of silver aggregate increases, the nonlocal nonlinear response increases much more strongly than the local one. An inference is made that the mechanical motion of metal nanoparticles because of their dynamic interaction with the light wave field can contribute to the nonlinear polarization effects.  相似文献
