The mean square polarizability radii of the proton have been measured for the first time in a virtual-Compton-scattering experiment performed at the MIT-Bates out-of-plane scattering facility. Response functions and polarizabilities obtained from a dispersion analysis of the data at Q2 = 0.057 GeV2/c2 are in agreement with O(p3) heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. The data support the dominance of mesonic effects in the polarizabilities. 相似文献

Background
It is generally believed that activation in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is restricted to gray matter. Despite this, a number of studies have reported white matter activation, particularly when the corpus callosum is targeted using interhemispheric transfer tasks. These findings suggest that fMRI signals may not be neatly confined to gray matter tissue. In the current experiment, 4 T fMRI was employed to evaluate whether it is possible to detect white matter activation. We used an interhemispheric transfer task modelled after neurological studies of callosal disconnection. It was hypothesized that white matter activation could be detected using fMRI. 相似文献9.

To determine nonspherical angular-momentum amplitudes in hadrons at long ranges (low Q2), data were taken for the p(ˉe, e'p)π0 reaction in the Δ region at Q
2 = 0.060 (GeV/c)2 utilizing the magnetic spectrometers of the A1 Collaboration at MAMI. The results for the dominant transition magnetic dipole
amplitude and the quadrupole to dipole ratios at W = 1232 MeV are
, Re(
)%, and Re(
)%. These disagree with predictions of constituent quark models but are in reasonable agreement with lattice calculations
with nonlinear (chiral) pion mass extrapolations, with chiral effective field theory, and with dynamical models with pion
cloud effects. These results confirm the dominance, and general Q2 variation, of the pionic contribution at large distances. 相似文献
