Large enhancements have been observed in the sub-barrier fusion cross sections for Ti+Ni systems in our previous studies. Coupled channel calculations incorporating couplings to 2+ and 3 states failed to explain these enhancements completely. A possibilty of transfer channels contributing to the residual enhancements had been suggested. In order to investigate the role of relevant transfer channels, measurements of one- and two-nucleon transfer were carried out for 46,48Ti+61Ni systems. Refractive index studies are carried out on two highly polar liquid crystals: 1. N-(p-n-methoxy benzylidene)-p-amino benzonitrile, PmBAB, 2. N-(p-n-ethoxy benzylidene)-p-amino benzonitrile, PeBAB. The experimental investigations are carried out in the visible region at four different wavelengths, namely, 633, 589, 546 and 436 nm. The two compounds exhibit only the nematic liquid crystalline phase in between the isotropic and crystalline solid. The dispersive power ω is estimated for two consecutive wavelengths for the case of <n>, ne and no for different wavelengths and found to be constant with temperature. Further the temperature gradients of ne and no are estimated, and the crossover temperature is obtained using dno/dT for all the wavelengths.  相似文献

This paper outlines the benefits of computational steering for high performance computing applications. Lattice-Boltzmann mesoscale fluid simulations of binary and ternary amphiphilic fluids in two and three dimensions are used to illustrate the substantial improvements which computational steering offers in terms of resource efficiency and time to discover new physics. We discuss details of our current steering implementations and describe their future outlook with the advent of computational grids.  相似文献

We have measured three axial polarization observables in d-->p--> breakup with a polarized 270 MeV deuteron beam on a polarized proton target. Axial observables are zero by parity conservation in elastic scattering but can be easily observed in the breakup channel at the present energy. Based on a symmetry argument, the sensitivity of these observables to the three-nucleon force might be enhanced. Calculations without three-nucleon force are in fair agreement with our measurement, indicating that the expected sensitivity of axial observables to the three-nucleon force is not confirmed. Including a three-nucleon force in the calculation does not improve the agreement with the data.  相似文献

We report the first observation of the charge symmetry breaking d+d-->4He+pi(0) reaction near threshold. Measurements using a magnetic channel (gated by two photons) of the 4He scattering angle and momentum (from time of flight) permitted reconstruction of the pi(0) "missing mass," the quantity used to separate 4He+pi(0) events from the continuum of double radiative capture 4He+gamma+gamma events. We measured total cross sections for neutral pion production of 12.7+/-2.2 pb at 228.5 MeV and 15.1+/-3.1 pb at 231.8 MeV. The uncertainty is dominated by statistical errors. These cross sections arise fundamentally from the down-up quark mass difference and quark electromagnetic effects that contribute in part through meson mixing (e.g., pi(0)-eta) mechanisms.  相似文献
