ZnS(Ag)/6LiF and LiI(Eu) scintillators for thermal neutron detectors have been investigated and neutron detectors based on these scintillators and photomultipliers have been tested. The efficiencies of these detectors are 5 and 66%, respectively. The possibility of developing position-sensitive detectors of thermal neutrons with high space and time resolution is discussed. 相似文献

The ratio of delayed to prompt fission yields has been measured for 241Am and 243Am samples irradiated by a bremsstrahlung photon pulsed beam over the energy range Eγmax = 10–80 MeV. The relative probabilities of 240mfAm and 242mfAm isomer production and the cross sections of the 241Am(γ, n)240mfAm and 243Am(γ, n)242mfAm reactions were deduced from the yields measured in the E1 giant resonance region. 相似文献

The A dependence of nuclear fission induced by stopped antiprotons has been measured. An unambiguous identification of the binary fission decay mode was provided by a coordinate measurement of complementary fission fragments in coincidence using a large-acceptance fission detector based on low pressure multiwire proportional chambers. A deep fissility minimum was observed nearA=100, in agreement with the general behaviour predicted by the liquid-drop model. An unexpectedly low and high fission probability was found for the Ag and Cu nuclei, respectively. 相似文献

Experimental data of the GRAAL Collaboration on the total cross sections for photoabsorption on deuterium and carbon targets
at gamma-ray energies in the range between 600 and 1500 MeV are presented. The experiment was performed in a beam of photons
obtained by the method of the Compton backscattering of laser photons at the electron storage ring of the European Synchrotron
Radiation Facility (ESRF, Grenoble, France) by using a wide-aperture detector covering a solid angle close to 4π. The total photoabsorption cross sections were determined by two independent methods: by subtracting the emptytarget background
and by summing partial cross sections for meson photoproduction. The total cross sections for photoabsorption on quasifree
protons and neutrons are shown to agree both in magnitude and in shape within a 5% precision of the measurements. In contrast
to data previously available in the literature, both cross sections show distinctly the F
15(1680) resonance at a photon energy of about 1 GeV. Data obtained in the present experiment for the cross sections for photoabsorption
on a free and a bound nucleon are compared. This comparison reveals a substantial role of two-nucleon correlations in estimating
the nuclear-medium effect on meson photoproduction. 相似文献

Experimental study of photonuclear reactions using Compton back scattered gamma beams at intermediate energies (from pion photoproduction threshold up to a few GeV) is reviewed. The last review of this subject was published about 10 years ago. Since then, new fundamental data on nucleon spin structure and photonuclear excitation mechanisms have appeared in the literature. Principal attention in the present review is paid to the GRAAL (Grenoble Accelerateur Anneau Laser) experiment conducted at ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility). It is shown that, in addition to the principal polarization experimental program based on high degree of gamma beam polarization, new results on different applications have been obtained. For example, total photoabsorption and partial meson photoproduction cross sections were measured with high accuracy, and a new method for studying an interaction of unstable short-lived mesons with nuclear media (tagged mesons) was proposed. New results on anisotropy of the speed of light with respect to the dipole of cosmic microwave background radiation were evaluated. It is noted that new opportunities arise due to unique conditions appearing while conducting the experiments with the Compton back scattering technique, which provides the hard photon spectrum, high degree of beam polarization, and low backgrounds. 相似文献

In 1957, Higman showed that a Lie algebra admitting a fixed-point-free automorphism is nilpotent, and that an analogous result
also holds for a finite soluble group. Two years later, Thompson proved that a finite group having a fixed-point-free automorphism
of prime order is soluble, and consequently nilpotent. Generalizing that situation, a few years ago, Kharchenko set up a conjecture
on the solubility of a Lie algebra L admitting an automorphism of prime order whose fixed points lie in the center of L. A
similar conjecture applies also with finite groups. Here we affirm the latter for the case where the order p of an automorphism
is equal to 2 and deny it for all p>3.
