Dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) MRI is a widespread method that has found broad application in the imaging of the musculoskeletal (MSK) system. A common way of analyzing DCE MRI images is to look at the shape of the time-intensity curve (TIC) in pixels selected after drawing an ROI in a highly enhanced area. Although often applied to a number of MSK affections, shape analysis has so far not led to a unanimous correlation between these TIC patterns and pathology. We hypothesize that this might be a result of the subjective ROI approach. To overcome the shortcomings of the ROI approach (sampling error and interuser variability, among others), we created a method for a fast and simple classification of DCE MRI where time-curve enhancement shapes are classified pixel by pixel according to their shape. The result of the analysis is rendered in multislice, 2D color-coded images. With this approach, we show not only that differences on a short distance range of the TIC patterns are significant and cannot be appreciated with a conventional ROI analysis but also that the information that shape maps and conventional standard DCE MRI parameter maps convey are substantially different. 相似文献

Summary Rubbers filled with high amounts of a hard inorganic filler still show the typical mechanical properties of a high polymer, viz. a glass-rubber transition region, a glassy state and a rubbery state. The influence of filler characteristics on the glass-rubber transition is discussed, chiefly on the basis of the course of shear modulus at constant frequency as a function of temperature. The influence of volume content of filler on the glass-rubber transition of composite materials consists chiefly in a change of the levels of the shear modulus in the glassy and in the rubbery state. This change may be described by a simple macroscopic model due toVan der Poel. Predictions by this theory could be confirmed for rubbers filled with single filler fractions in the range of filler size between 30–500 m, and in the range of filler content between 0–50 vol.%.At smaller particle sizes, an influence of filler size was observed, which points to an increase in the transition temperature and to an increase in the level of modulus in the rubbery state with decreasing filler size. The preparation of composite materials with high filler contents (> 55 vol.%) is only possible by using a filler with a bimodal size distribution. In this case, moduli depend on filler content and mixing ratio of coarse to fine filler fraction; theVan der Poel theory then gives predictions which are too high in comparison with experimental results. 相似文献

Fast atom bombardment, combined with high-energy collision-induced tandem mass spectrometry, has been used to investigate gas-phase metal-ion interactions with captopril, enalaprilat and lisinopril, all angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors.Suggestions for the location of metal-binding sites are presented. For captopril, metal binding occurs most likely at both the sulphur and the nitrogen atom. For enalaprilat and lisinopril, binding preferably occurs at the amine nitrogen. Purpose
To investigate the feasibility of in vivo assessment of hepatic lipid composition using 3.0-T proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) in a steatotic rat model and compare it to histopathological and biochemical assessment.Materials and Methods
Hepatic steatosis was induced by feeding rats with a methionine/choline-deficient (MCD) diet for 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7 weeks (n=5 per group). At the end of the diet period, 1H-MRS of the liver was performed, and rats were sacrificed for histopathological and biochemical assessment of the liver. Spectra were acquired in a single voxel (1.2 cc) using a point-resolved spectroscopic sequence with TE/TR=35/2000 ms and 64 signal acquisitions. From the MR spectra, peak area ratios were calculated to estimate hepatic lipid composition. Results
During MCD diet periods, hepatic steatosis significantly increased on histopathology (P<.001). The 1H-MRS measurements of total hepatic fat content [1.3/(1.3+4.65) ppm] correlated strongly with histological macrovesicular hepatic steatosis (r=0.93, P<.001) and with the biochemical total hepatic fatty acids (r=0.94, P<.001). Total unsaturated fatty acids [TUFA, 5.4/(1.3+4.65) ppm] estimated with 1H-MRS strongly correlated with the biochemical unsaturated fatty acids (r=0.90, P<.001). Polyunsaturated fatty acids [PUFA, 2.8/(1.3+4.65) ppm] estimated with 1H-MRS strongly correlated with biochemical PUFA (r=0.91, P<.001). The proportion of total unsaturated fatty acids relative to the amount of total fatty acids (rTUFA, 5.4/1.3ppm) measured with 1H-MRS strongly correlated with the biochemical amount of unsaturated relative to total hepatic fatty acids (r=0.81, P<.001). The proportion of PUFA relative to the amount of total fatty acids (rPUFA, 2.8/1.3 ppm) measured with 1H-MRS correlated with the biochemical amount of PUFA relative to total fatty acids (r=0.59, P=0.005,) and with the biochemical amount of omega-6 PUFA relative to total fatty acids (r=0.73, P<.001).PUFA at 1H-MRS correlated with the histopathologically assessed degree of lobular inflammation in the liver (r=0.57, P=.001).Conclusion
3.0T 1H-MRS is able to measure poly- and unsaturated hepatic fatty acids and this strongly correlates with biochemical assessment. This study provides evidence that 3.0-T 1H-MRS is a noninvasive technique to assess hepatic lipid composition. 相似文献9.
