A recently proposed model of social interaction in voting is investigated by simplifyingit down into a version that is more analytically tractable and which allows a mathematicalanalysis to be performed. This analysis clarifies the interplay of the different elementspresent in the system – social influence, heterogeneity and noise – and leads to a betterunderstanding of its properties. The origin of a regime of bistability is identified. Theinsight gained in this way gives further intuition into the behaviour of the originalmodel.  相似文献

The currents generated by noise-induced activation processes in a periodic potential are investigated analytically, by digital simulation and by performing analog experiments. The noise is taken to be quasimonochromatic and the potential to be a smoothed sawtooth. Two analytic approaches are studied. The first involves a perturbative expansion in inverse powers of the frequency characterizing quasimonochromatic noise and the second is a direct numerical integration of the deterministic differential equations obtained in the limit of weak noise. These results, together with the digital and analog experiments, show that the system does indeed give rise, in general, to a net transport of particles. All techniques also show that a current reversal exists for a particular value of the noise parameters.  相似文献

We describe the properties of a model which links the ecology of food web structure with the evolutionary dynamics of speciation and extinction events; the model describes the dynamics of ecological communities on an evolutionary timescale. Species are defined as sets of characteristic features, and these features are used to determine interaction scores between species. A realistic population dynamics, which incorporates these scores, is used to determine the changes in population sizes on ecological time scales and so determine mean population sizes. Stochastic reaction-diffusion models can be analytically studied on complex networks using the linear noise approximation. This is illustrated through the use of a specific stochastic model, which displays travelling waves in its deterministic limit. The role of stochastic fluctuations is investigated and shown to drive the emergence of stochastic waves beyond the region of the instability predicted from the deterministic theory. Simulations are performed to test the theoretical results and are analyzed via a generalized Fourier transform algorithm. This transform is defined using the eigenvectors of the discrete Laplacian defined on the network. A peak in the numerical power spectrum of the fluctuations is observed in quantitative agreement with the theoretical predictions.  相似文献

Fast atom bombardment, combined with high-energy collision-induced tandem mass spectrometry, has been used to investigate gas-phase metal-ion interactions with captopril, enalaprilat and lisinopril, all angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors.Suggestions for the location of metal-binding sites are presented. For captopril, metal binding occurs most likely at both the sulphur and the nitrogen atom. For enalaprilat and lisinopril, binding preferably occurs at the amine nitrogen.
