By combining frontal polymerization and radical‐induced cationic polymerization, it was possible to cure thick samples of an epoxy monomer bleached by UV light. The effect of the relative amounts of cationic photoinitiator and radical initiator was thoroughly investigated and was related to the front's velocity and its maximum temperature. The materials obtained were characterized by quantitative conversion also in the deeper layers, not reached by UV light. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. New fluorinated, polyfunctional propenyl ether functionalized resins were synthesized, and their behavior in cationic photopolymerization was investigated. The photopolymerization proceeded efficiently with a high double‐bond conversion (>90%), giving rise to UV‐cured coatings characterized by low glass‐transition temperatures (?33 °C ≤ glass‐transition temperature ≤ ?15 °C) and hydrophobic surface properties. A fluorinated additive was also employed as a reactive additive in the cationic photopolymerization of trimethylolpropane tripropenyl ether, increasing the double‐bond conversion, polymer network flexibility, thermal stability, and surface hydrophobicity. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cotton fabrics have been treated by sol–gel processes in order to produce an inorganic coating on fibres, able to modify their thermal conductivity under an irradiating flow. To this aim, fabric specimens with different silica content have been tested following the ISO 6942 standard in order to establish the effect of the coating on coupled heat and moisture transfer through the cotton fibres. The collected results have been compared with those obtained by an optimized method using a cone calorimeter as the heating source. By this latter approach, it has been demonstrated that sol–gel cotton treated fabrics with high moisture uptake possess a significantly lower thermal conductivity with respect to cotton alone.  相似文献

Thermoresponsive poly(N‐vinylcaprolactam) nanocomposite hydrogels containing graphene were successfully prepared by frontal polymerization. High concentration of graphene (5.0 mg/mL) was obtained by direct graphite sonication in the self‐same liquid monomer, thus avoiding any chemical manipulation and obtaining “real” graphene as nanofiller instead of one of its more or less oxidized derivative, which is what generally reported in published reports. Furthermore, the corresponding nanocomposites were obtained without using any solvent to be eventually removed. The materials were fully characterized by RAMAN, SEM, and TEM, and their swelling behavior and rheological properties were investigated. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. District heating plants are becoming more common in European cities. These systems make it possible to furnish users with warm water while locating the production plants in the outskirts having the double benefit of lowering the impact of pollution on the center of the city and achieving better conversion performances. In order to amortize the costs throughout the year, the system often includes a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, to exploit the energy during the summer as well, when the demand for warm water decreases. A linear programming model for the optimal resource management of such a plant is presented and some results for a real case are reported. A distribution network design problem is also addressed and solved by means of mixed integer linear programming.  相似文献

The cationic photopolymerization of oxetane‐based systems containing silicon monomers was investigated. For this purpose, three new silicon‐containing oxetane monomers were synthesized through a simple and straightforward synthetic method. The silicon‐containing monomers were added to a typical oxetane resin, 3,3′‐[oxydi(methylene)]bis(3‐ethyloxetane), in concentrations of 1–5 wt %. They exploited a certain surface tension effect without affecting the rate of polymerization. Enrichment only on the air side was achieved, which induced hydrophobicity in the photocured films, depending on the monomer structure and concentration. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, GaN nanoparticles were synthesized from the complex Ga(H2NCONH2)6Cl3 in the flow of NH3 at a mild temperature (350 °C). Further purification was performed by the ethanol-thermal method. The ethanol-thermal method also prompted the GaN nanoparticles to grow into an anisotropic morphology. XRD patterns reveal that GaN nanoparticles have crystallized in a hexagonal wurtzite structure. TEM observation shows that the average size of the as-prepared nanoparticles is about 5–10 nm. The photoluminescence spectrum exhibits a broad green emission band with a peak at 510 nm. It can be known from the first-principle theoretic simulation by the TDDFT method that this fluorescence emission band is attributed to the hydride defects of V N-H on the surface of GaN nanoparticles.  相似文献

In this work a commercially available organophilic Montmorillonite (Cloisite 30B) was modified by interaction with different surfactants, namely dodecylsuccinic anhydride (DSA), octadecylamine (ODA), octadecanoic alcohol (ODOH) and octadecanoic acid (ODAc), in order to increase its basal spacing and to achieve a better dispersibility in LDPE. The morphology of the dispersions was investigated through XRD and TEM analyses. Intercalation phenomena were found for all the systems investigated. The thermal properties of the obtained nanocomposites were studied by means of DSC and TGA measurements. No variation of T m and crystallinity of LDPE was found after the addition of the nanoclays (5 mass/mass%). A significant increase of the air thermal stability of LDPE was achieved in the presence of the modified nanoclays.  相似文献
