Electric Instability in <Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis>-CdTe:In Layers with <Emphasis Type="Italic">S</Emphasis>-Shaped Voltage-Current Characteristics

A switching of the S-type in the 20–200 μm thick polycrystalline n-CdTe:In layers with resistance of 10³–10⁶ Ω·cm is studied. The electric instability in the layers is found to be due to the electron-thermal breakdown mechanism. Synthesis of 3-epistrophanthidin and 3-epistrophanthidol

Conclusions 3-Epistrophanthidin and 3-epistrophanthidol have been synthesized from strophanthidin and strophanthidol with yields of 10 and 40%, respectively. Cardiac glycosides of Cheiranthus allioni. VI

Summary Another two cardiac glycosides have been isolated from the seeds ofCheiranthus allioni Hort. It has also been established that in cheiroside A the D-glucose is attached at C₄ of the D-fucose. Ketoimines of Cardenolides

3-Keto-derivatives of the cardenolides digitoxigenin and cardiogenin were prepared with subsequent conversion to new ketoimines (1–19, 24–44), the oxime (23), and for the first time to pure cardiogenin (14,16-dianhydrogitoxigenin, 20), its acetate (21), and cardiogenone (22). Gitoxigenin glycosides

Summary Three cardiac glycosides have been synthesized from gitoxigenin and D-glucose: gitoxigenin 3-O--D-glucopyranoside, gitoxigenin 16 -O- -D-glucopyranoside, and gitoxigenin 3, 16-di-O- -D-glucoside. The first glycoside, obtained with a yield of 49% on the weight of the initial aglycone, possesses a fairly high biological activity (0.25 mg/kg), while the other two, formed in a yield of about 0.3%, do not possess the action on the heart that is specific for the cardenolides.Khar'kov Chemical and Pharmaceutical Scientific-Research Institute. Heterometallic nickel(II) samarium(III) diethylenetriaminepentaacetate, a starting material for the preparation of samarium nickelate films

A reaction of samarium oxide, nickel oxocarbonate, and diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (H₅DTPA) taken in stoichiometric proportions in water gave SmNiDTPA · 10H₂O as a glassy solid. The formation of this heterometallic complex was confirmed by data from elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and X-ray fluorescence analysis. An aqueous solution of the complex was used to deposit SmNiO₃ films onto a single-crystal SrTiO₃(001) substrate. The SmNiO₃ phase in films obtained upon 3-h annealing at 500°C was identified by powder X-ray diffraction. Films deposited from a solution of an equimolar mixture of monometallic samarium and nickel diethylenetriaminepentaacetates contained no samarium nickelate.
