In this study, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used to visualize acoustic streaming in liquids. A single-shot spin echo sequence (HASTE) with a saturation band perpendicular to the acoustic beam permits the acquisition of an instantaneous image of the flow due to the application of ultrasound. An average acoustic streaming velocity can be estimated from the MR images, from which the ultrasonic absorption coefficient and the bulk viscosity of different glycerol-water mixtures can be deduced. In the same way, this MRI method could be used to assess the acoustic field and time-average power of ultrasonic transducers in water (or other liquids with known physical properties), after calibration of a geometrical parameter that is dependent on the experimental setup.  相似文献

A B(1) field gradient-based method previously described for the detection of mechanical vibrations has been applied to detect oscillatory motions in condensed matter originated from acoustic waves. A ladder-shaped coil generating a quasi-constant RF-field gradient was associated with a motion-encoding NMR sequence consisting in a repetitive binomial 13;31; RF pulse train (stroboscopic acquisition). The NMR response of a gel phantom subject to acoustic wave excitation in the 20-200 Hz range was investigated. Results showed a linear relationship between the NMR signal and the wave amplitude and a spectroscopic selectivity of the NMR sequence with respect to the input acoustic frequency. Spin displacements as short as a few tens of nanometers were able to be detected with this method.  相似文献

We present in this paper a method to monitor multiphase fluid core saturation through measurement of the sodium NMR signal. In a rock core saturated with water and oil, sodium will be present only in the water phase, and therefore can be used to separate the two fluids. Two dimensional sodium images were taken to monitor the movement of brine into oil saturated rock cores. The measured fluid exchange agrees well with expected behavior from traditional core analysis methods. Indications of damage to the rock structure can be seen from the patterns of fluid imbibition.  相似文献

Sodium MRI has been shown to be highly specific for glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content in articular cartilage, the loss of which is an early sign of osteoarthritis (OA). Quantitative sodium MRI techniques are therefore under development in order to detect and assess early biochemical degradation of cartilage, but due to low sodium NMR sensitivity and its low concentration, sodium images need long acquisition times (15-25 min) even at high magnetic fields and are typically of low resolution. In this preliminary study, we show that compressed sensing can be applied to reduce the acquisition time by a factor of 2 at 7 T without losing sodium quantification accuracy. Alternatively, the nonlinear reconstruction technique can be used to denoise fully-sampled images. We expect to even further reduce this acquisition time by using parallel imaging techniques combined with SNR-improved 3D sequences at 3T and 7 T.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to compare two different methods for the calculation of the ultrasonic output power of underwater transducers: the radiation force balance, which is the standard method, and the laser heterodyne interferometry, which is rather used to depict displacement or velocity distributions of the acoustic field. Here it is shown that the latter can also be used to calculate the acoustic time-average power with an uncertainty of about 22%, the radiation force balance giving an uncertainty of 12% (with 95% confidence). The interferometry experiments performed with two transducers working at 2.25 MHz and 8.25 MHz showed that they produce different acoustic fields (respectively Gaussian and Lorentz-sigmoidal distributions). Taking into account the acoustic field profiles, the acoustic time-average power from interferometry was calculated. It was found very similar to the time-average power measured with the radiation force balance in the plane-wave assumption.  相似文献

An essential highlight of the presented method is the employment of Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) for local measurements of the attenuation of elastic shear waves introduced into a biological sample. Such a measurement can be accomplished by combining the MRE method with those methods, in which collective displacement of spins is induced by external physical factors, such as variable electric field, strong magnetic field gradient or longitudinal elastic wave. A theoretical basis of the method involving external factors and results of preliminary experiments have been presented in this paper.  相似文献
