We report on the results of an exhaustive study of the valence electronic structure of norbornane (C(7)H(12)), up to binding energies of 29 eV. Experimental electron momentum spectroscopy and theoretical Green's function and density functional theory approaches were all utilized in this investigation. A stringent comparison between the electron momentum spectroscopy and theoretical orbital momentum distributions found that, among all the tested models, the combination of the Becke-Perdew functional and a polarized valence basis set of triple-zeta quality provides the best representation of the electron momentum distributions for all of the 20 valence orbitals of norbornane. This experimentally validated quantum chemistry model was then used to extract some chemically important properties of norbornane. When these calculated properties are compared to corresponding results from other independent measurements, generally good agreement is found. Green's function calculations with the aid of the third-order algebraic diagrammatic construction scheme indicate that the orbital picture of ionization breaks down at binding energies larger than 22.5 eV. Despite this complication, they enable insights within 0.2 eV accuracy into the available ultraviolet photoemission and newly presented (e,2e) ionization spectra, except for the band associated with the 1a(2) (-1) one-hole state, which is probably subject to rather significant vibronic coupling effects, and a band at approximately 25 eV characterized by a momentum distribution of "s-type" symmetry, which Green's function calculations fail to reproduce. We note the vicinity of the vertical double ionization threshold at approximately 26 eV.  相似文献

Using a crossed electron-molecular beam experiment, featuring a skimmed nozzle beam with pyrolytic radical production, absolute elastic cross sections for electron scattering from the CF2 molecule have been measured. A new technique for placing measured cross sections on an absolute scale is used for molecular beams produced as skimmed supersonic jets. Absolute differential cross sections for CF2 are reported for incident electron energies of 30-50 eV and over an angular range of 20-135 deg. Integral cross sections are subsequently derived from those data. The present data are compared to new theoretical predictions for the differential and integral scattering cross sections, as calculated with the Schwinger multichannel variational method using the static-exchange and static-exchange plus polarization approximations.  相似文献

We present high resolution 133Cs-13C double resonance NMR data and 13C-13C NMR correlation spectra of 13C enriched samples of the polymeric phase of CsC60. These data lead to a partial assignment of the lines in the 13C NMR spectrum of CsC60 to the carbon positions on the C60 molecule. A plausible completion of the assignment can be made on the basis of an ab initio calculation. The data support the view that the conduction electron density is concentrated at the C60 "equator," away from the interfullerene bonds.  相似文献

The authors report absolute differential and integral cross section measurements for electron-impact excitation of the A (1)B(1) electronic state of water. This is an important channel for the production of the OH (X (2)Pi) radical, as well as for understanding the origin of the atmospheric Meinel [Astrophys. J. 111, 555 (1950)] bands. The incident energy range of our measurements is 20-200 eV, while the angular range of the differential cross section data is 3.5 degrees -90 degrees . This is the first time such data are reported in the literature and, where possible, comparison to existing theoretical work, and new scaled Born cross sections calculated as a part of the current study, is made. The scaled Born cross sections are in good agreement with the integral cross sections deduced from the experimental differential cross sections. In addition they report (experimental) generalized oscillator strength data at the incident energies of 100 and 200 eV. These data are used to derive a value for the optical oscillator strength which is found to be in excellent agreement with that from an earlier dipole (e,e) experiment and an earlier photoabsorption experiment.  相似文献
