Poly(styrene-co-acrylamide) (PS-AAM) latex was prepared, fractionated by sedimentation under gravity, and characterized by PCS, infrared spectra, secondary and backscattered electron imaging in the scanning electron microscope, and electron spectroscopy imaging in an analytical transmission electron microscope. Three latex fractions were obtained. The lower fraction was opalescent and its particles were the more uniform, concerning size, chemical composition, and topochemical features. This lower fraction was still further fractionated by zonal centrifugation in a density gradient, yielding two fractions with similar macrocrystal-forming abilities but different sizes and chemical compositions. Large enhancements have been observed in the sub-barrier fusion cross sections for Ti+Ni systems in our previous studies. Coupled channel calculations incorporating couplings to 2+ and 3 states failed to explain these enhancements completely. A possibilty of transfer channels contributing to the residual enhancements had been suggested. In order to investigate the role of relevant transfer channels, measurements of one- and two-nucleon transfer were carried out for 46,48Ti+61Ni systems. The macroscopic thermodynamic stability of a system of 108 diatomic molecules undergoing planar Couette flow far from equilibrium is reported. The system is perturbed from the steady state using a nondissipative variable colour field which induces a polarization in the system. It is found that the steady state for the system corresponds to an extremum in the generalized free energy and entropy production. However, while the free energy is always a minimum, the entropy production may be either a minimum or a maximum depending upon the direction of the colour field. These results, for a molecular system, are fundamentally different from those for an equivalent atomic system.  相似文献

The Lyapunov vectors corresponding to the steps of Lyapunov spectra for many-particle systems show time-oscillating behavior in two types of Lyapunov modes, one associated with time-translational invariance and the other with spatial translational invariance. Our result is that, for each coordinate direction, the longest period of the Lyapunov modes is twice as long as the period of the momentum autocorrelation function. A simple explanation for this relation is proposed and we argue that this result is generally true for many-particle systems. This gives the first quantitative connection between the Lyapunov modes and an experimentally accessible quantity.  相似文献

We present the analytic solution of the two-particle Boltzmann equation for hard disks undergoing isothermal shear, within the relaxation time approximation. This system has a steady state for all values of the strain rate. The fluid is shear thinning and exhibits normal stress differences. This solution is compared with the collision free solution of the Liouville equation. The non-equilibrium entropy is also calculated.  相似文献
