Interacting Spin 0 Fields with Torsion via Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau Theory

Here we study the behaviour of the spin 0 sector of the DKP field in spaces with torsion. First we show that in a Riemann-Cartan manifold the DKP field presents an interaction with torsion when minimal coupling is performed, contrary to the behaviour of the KG field, a result that breaks the usual equivalence between the DKP and the KG fields.Next we analyse the case of the Teleparallel Equivalent of General Relativity (Weitzenböck manifold), showing that in this case there is a perfect agreement between KG and DKP fields. Stability in fully nonlinear parabolic equations

We study the stability of the null solution of a class of nonlinear evolution equations in Banach space. After stating a local existence result and the principle of linearized stability, we study the critical case, giving sufficient conditions for stability. The results are applied to second-order fully nonlinear parabolic equations in [0, + [ × R ⁿ .     

Yrast excitations in129Te

Using an 11.4MeV/u¹³⁶Xe beam of the UNILAC accelerator of GSI and a^natW target, A=184 isobars were produced and separated by using an on-line mass separator. A new isomeric state was found in¹⁸⁴Hf. This state decays with a half-life of 48(10) s and emits three -rays of 73, 482, and 555 keV as well as lower-lying cascade transitions. The hindrance of the 73 keV-E1 transition with K=8 is compared with those of other even-even hafnium isotopes. The half-life of¹⁸⁴Lu was estimated to be between 15 and 25s.     

Investigation of lifetimes in dipole bands of 141Eu

Lifetimes have been measured for dipole bands in ¹⁴¹Eu using DSAM. The deduced B(M1) and B(E2) values as well as B(M1)/B(E2) ratios are compared with calculations in the framework of the TAC (Tilted Axis Cranking) and SPAC (Shears mechanism with Principal Axis Cranking) models. Smooth solutions to a class of free boundary parabolic problems

We establish existence, uniqueness, and regularity results for solutions to a class of free boundary parabolic problems, including the free boundary heat equation which arises in the so-called ``focusing problem' in the mathematical theory of combustion. Such solutions are proved to be smooth with respect to time for positive , if the data are smooth.

     

Hard-to-reach nuclei studied with deep-inelastic heavy-ion reactions

Spectroscopic studies performed with deep-inelastic heavy-ion reactions are reviewed for two regions of neutron-rich nuclei. The identification of isomers in nearly complete series of Sn isotopes and the resulting systematic of B(E2) values for isomeric transitions is presented and followed by the discussion of shell model states studied in neutron-rich Te isotopes including the new four neutron-hole isomers identified in ¹³⁰Te. Yrast spectroscopy studies of nuclei from the doubly magic ²⁰⁸Pb region are described by outlining the highest spin states observed in the ²⁰⁸Pb core nucleus. Delayed crossing in the \pi h_{9/2} 1/2-[541] band of 173 Lu

High-spin states in the odd-proton nucleus ¹⁷³Lu have been populated in a ¹⁷⁰Er(⁷Li,4n) reaction and the emitted -radiation was detected with the GASP array. The favoured and unfavoured sequences of the band have been considerably extended. The favoured sequence does not show any indication of a band crossing up to a rotational frequency of 0.45 MeV. This is the largest crossing frequency ever observed for 1/2^- [541] bands of odd-proton nuclei with and .
