The PPL-catalysed resolution of 4-hydroxy-2,3-epoxybutyl butyrate resulted in the (2S,3R)-(−)-enantiomer with high optical purity ( > 90% e.e.). The two acylation (or deacylation) steps from diol to dibutyrate (or from dibutyrate to diol) were shown to have reverse stereoselectivities. 相似文献
Cellulose whiskers were prepared from wood- and cotton-based microcrystalline cellulose and dried by two methods: freeze-drying
or air-drying. The effect of drying method on the properties and structure of the whiskers were studied. Furthermore, the
influence of the source of cellulose on the nanoscale structure was investigated. Drying method was observed to slightly influence
the thermal stability of cellulose whiskers, whereas the char residue varied significantly depending on the drying process
performed. Small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering and solid state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy were used to examine
the crystallinity and nanoscale structure of the dried whiskers. It was observed that the crystal structure and crystallinity
of cellulose whiskers remained during all treatments, whereas their nanoscale structure was significantly influenced by drying
method, neutralization, and source of cellulose. Relationships between thermal behavior and nanoscale structure were reported
and discussed. 相似文献
One of the most fascinating objects in the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) is an early 16th century prayer nut. This spherical wooden object measures 4 cm in diameter and consists of two hemispheres connected with a small hinge so that it can be opened. The interior of the nut holds wood carvings with scenes from the life of Christ. These miniature reliefs show an incredible degree of finish with carving details well beyond the millimetre scale. In the present paper it is shown how synchrotron‐based computer X‐ray tomography revealed the structure and fabrication method of the bead. The central part of the relief was cut from a single piece of wood, rather than assembled from multiple components, underlining the extraordinary manual dexterity of its maker. In addition, a piece of fibrous material contained in the inner structure of the bead is revealed. This may have served as a carrier for an odorous compound, which would be in line with the religious function of the prayer nut. 相似文献
A bio-ink for covalent deposition of thermostable, high affinity biotin-binding chimeric avidin onto sol-gel substrates was developed. The bio-ink was prepared from heterobifunctional crosslinker 6-maleimidohexanoic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide which was first reacted either with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane or 3-aminopropyldimethylethoxysilane to form silane linkers 6-maleimide-N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)hexanamide or -(ethoxydimethylsilyl)propyl)-hexanamide. C-terminal cysteine genetically engineered to chimeric avidin was reacted with the maleimide group of silane linker in methanol/PBS solution to form a suspension, which was printed on sol-gel modified PMMA film. Different concentrations of chimeric avidin and ratios between silane linkers were tested to find the best properties for the bio-ink to enable gravure or inkjet printing. Bio-ink prepared from 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane was found to provide the highest amount of active immobilized chimeric avidin. The developed bio-ink was shown to be valuable for automated fabrication of avidin-functionalized polymer films. 相似文献
These studies provide evidence for the ability of a commercially available, defined, hyaluronan‐gelatin hydrogel, HyStem‐C?, to maintain both mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) in culture while retaining their growth and pluripotent characteristics. Growth curve and doubling time analysis show that mESCs and hiPSCs grow at similar rates on HyStem‐C? hydrogels and mouse embryonic fibroblasts and Matrigel?, respectively. Immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, gene expression and karyotyping reveal that both human and murine pluripotent cells retain a high level of pluripotency on the hydrogels after multiple passages. The addition of fibronectin to HyStem‐C? enabled the attachment of hiPSCs in a xeno‐free, fully defined medium.
The synthesis of novel TbIII labels suitable for protein labelling are reported. Their luminescence properties as antibody conjugates were measured and compared to the results of corresponding TbIII chelates of the parent ligand structures. When the lowest triplet-state energy level of the parent donor ligand was over 23000 cm?1, i.e., the energy gap between the 5D4 level of TbIII and the lowest triplet-state energy level of the ligand exceeded 2600 cm?1, the label derivative with a long decay time (τ = 1.35–2.93 ms) and a high luminescence yield (?. Φ = 3770–4560) was found to be suitable for bioaffinity assays. 相似文献
