The weakly pinned single crystals of the hexagonal 2H-NbSe2 compound have emerged as prototypes for determining and characterizing the phase boundaries of the possible order-disorder transformations in the vortex matter. We present here a status report based on the ac and dc magnetization measurements of the peak effect phenomenon in three crystals of 2H-NbSe2, in which the critical current densities vary over two orders of magnitude. We sketch the generic vortex phase diagram of a weakly pinned superconductor, which also utilizes theoretical proposals. We also establish the connection between the metastability effects and pinning.  相似文献

The hydrophilic oxygen atoms of polyethylenoxide chains inserted as pillars in gamma-zirconium phosphate form hydrogen bonds with the acid groups of the host. As a result the pillars are almost perpendicular to the gamma layers. Upon changing the pH level of the supernatant solution the hydrogen bonds are broken and the pillars become almost perpendicular to the layers (shown schematically). Thus there is a reversible enlargement-shortening of the interlayer space.  相似文献

A microautoclave magic angle spinning NMR rotor is developed enabling in situ monitoring of solid–liquid–gas reactions at high temperatures and pressures. It is used in a kinetic and mechanistic study of the reactions of cyclohexanol on zeolite HBEA in 130 °C water. The 13C spectra show that dehydration of 1‐13C‐cyclohexanol occurs with significant migration of the hydroxy group in cyclohexanol and the double bond in cyclohexene with respect to the 13C label. A simplified kinetic model shows the E1‐type elimination fully accounts for the initial rates of 1‐13C‐cyclohexanol disappearance and the appearance of the differently labeled products, thus suggesting that the cyclohexyl cation undergoes a 1,2‐hydride shift competitive with rehydration and deprotonation. Concurrent with the dehydration, trace amounts of dicyclohexyl ether are observed, and in approaching equilibrium, a secondary product, cyclohexyl‐1‐cyclohexene is formed. Compared to phosphoric acid, HBEA is shown to be a more active catalyst exhibiting a dehydration rate that is 100‐fold faster per proton.  相似文献

Metal–polymer hybrid films are prepared by deposition of polymer‐coated PtCo nanoparticles onto block copolymer templates. For templating, a thin film of the lamella‐forming diblock copolymer poly(styrene‐b‐methyl methacrylate) P(S‐b‐MMA) is chemically etched and a topographical surface relief with 3 nm height difference is created. Two types of polymer‐grafted PtCo nanoparticles are compared to explore the impact of chemical selectivity versus the topographical effect of the nanotemplate. A preferable wetting of the polystyrene (PS) domains with poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS)‐coated PtCo nanoparticles (instead of residing in the space between the domains) is observed. Our investigation reveals that the interaction between PSS‐coated nanoparticles and PS domains dominates over the topographical effects of the polymer surface. In contrast, a non‐selective deposition of poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone) (PVP)‐coated PtCo nanoparticles and the formation of large metal‐particle aggregates on the film is observed.  相似文献

We report the simultaneous production of Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) of 87Rb and 133Cs atoms in separate optical traps. The two samples are mixed during laser cooling and loading but are separated by 400 μm for the final stage of evaporative cooling. This is done to avoid considerable interspecies three-body recombination, which causes heating and evaporative loss. We characterize the BEC production process, discuss limitations, and outline the use of the dual-species BEC in future experiments to produce rovibronic ground state molecules, including a scheme facilitated by the superfluid-to-Mott-insulator (SF-MI) phase transition.  相似文献

The products of base-catalyzed liquid-phase hydrolysis of lignin depend markedly on the operating conditions. By varying temperature, pressure, catalyst concentration, and residence time, the yield of monomers and oligomers from depolymerized lignin can be adjusted. It is shown that monomers of phenolic derivatives are the only primary products of base-catalyzed hydrolysis and that oligomers form as secondary products. Oligomerization and polymerization of these highly reactive products, however, limit the amount of obtainable product oil containing low-molecular-weight phenolic products. Therefore, inhibition of concurrent oligomerization and polymerization reactions during hydrothermal lignin depolymerization is important to enhance product yields. Applying boric acid as a capping agent to suppress addition and condensation reactions of initially formed products is presented as a successful approach in this direction. Combination of base-catalyzed lignin hydrolysis with addition of boric acid protecting agent shifts the product distribution to lower molecular weight compounds and increases product yields beyond 85%.  相似文献
